Week of December 6

Hello! We have a lot going on the next two weeks. The big ones are Middle of Year Reading and Math testing that we started today. It is so important that your child is here as much as possible! I would like them to get plenty of practice and review before their testing! Some helpful tips to help your child prepare is to make sure they get good sleep the night before and eat a good breakfast so that they feel ready for the day. Also, please make sure that you are still reading 20 minutes OUT LOUD with your child every night. This is going to be the best practice! I am so excited for them to show how much they have grown!

Important Dates:

  • Sometime this week Middle of Year testing for Reading and Math will start.
  • Friday Dec. 17th from 8:45ish-10:15ish – Class Grinch Party – Please let me know if you would be willing to help out for this fun activity. We will be meeting as a whole third grade in the gym doing tons of different fun activities and we could use all the help we can get.
  • Dec. 20th – Jan. 2nd – Winter Break

MATH – Please remember to continue practicing multiplication facts with your third grader at home. You can find a cheap set of flash cards at the dollar store, you can print off your own online, or use index cards to create your own. No matter which flash cards you use, it is so important that your child has practice.

We started lesson 15 last week and we will continue it this week. Below is the family letter from our math work book. On the second page of the letter, there is an activity to help students understand area. You are not required to do the activity, it’s just a suggestion if you’d like your child to practice at home.

ELA – We will be working on Unit 2 Week 6 which is a review unit. We will also be taking the Unit 2 test this week.
