Week of February 7

Hello! I absolutely loved meeting with everyone who came to Parent Teacher Conferences. Your child loved showing off their Google Site and the Pixton PTC form. I loved having the students lead this conference and explain what goals they set for themselves for the rest of the year.

Valentine’s Day Information – We will be having our Valentine’s exchange on Monday, the 14th. Students can bring valentines for everyone in our class (there are 26 students). Please DO NOT label the valentines with students’ names. This takes forever to pass out the cards. This year students can include store bought treats with their valentines, however they cannot eat the treats until they get home. Your child is more than welcome to bring a Valentine’s box to school on Monday if you choose. I will have a plain white paper sack for them if they do not bring one. This day is really low key so I will not need any parent volunteer help.

Important Dates:

  • Monday, Feb. 14th – Valentine’s Exchange
  • Monday, Feb. 21st – President’s Day – No School

Week of January 24

Hello Grown-Ups! You might have noticed that your child has been bringing home work from school to complete. I have noticed that since we have come back from winter break many students feel that completing their work is optional. I give them plenty of time in class to complete assignments but, unfortunately students are not using their time wisely. As a result, the third grade teachers have decided to reward those who have completed all of their work on Fridays. For a half hour before lunch, students who complete their work will get the option to choose between two different activities. Two teachers will be running the activities and two teachers will be helping students who still need to complete their work. We are hoping that the activities on Friday will be an incentive for students to use their time wisely and get their work done.

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES – Make sure that you sign up because we have lots to talk about. Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Wednesday, February 2nd and Thursday, February 3rd.  Please note: These will be early out days (1:00pm) and there will be no school on Friday (February 4th). Students will be creating a presentation to share with you during this time. They will talk about their learning scores and show off what they have been working on in computer science. Please sign up by clicking the following link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090948AFA922A6F49-winter

Stuffed Animal Day

Because of fantastic behavior, tomorrow, January 14, our class has earned a “Stuffed Animal Day!” Please make sure that the stuffed animal is small enough to fit in a backpack. If your child would like to keep it with them during class, it will need to fit comfortably on their desk along with a laptop.
