Our first week of the new year was a success! I am so proud of how hard students worked to get back into our routine. They did amazing! Below is what we will be working on for the week and the Sign-Up for Parent Teacher Conferences.

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES – Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Wednesday, February 2nd and Thursday, February 3rd. Please note: These will be early out days (1:00pm) and there will be no school on Friday (February 4th). Students will be creating a presentation to share with you during this time. They will talk about their learning scores and show off what they have been working on in computer science. Please watch for a sign-up link to be sent to your email.
MATH – MULTIPLICATION! MULTIPLICATION! MULTIPLICATION!! – I hope that got your attention. Your child cannot learn their multiplication facts without help from home. Please make sure that you are quizzing your child on these facts. You can buy cheap multiplication flash cards at many different stores, or you can create your own using index cards. Students in 3rd grade are required to have their 0-10 multiplication facts memorized before entering 4th grade. I have been quizzing students on their facts and they need to pass off 10 facts in a minute. Please take time every night to practice multiplication facts with your child.
This week we will start lesson 17 in math which is one step word problems. Below is the family letter from our math work book. On the second page of the letter, there is an activity to help students understand area. You are not required to do the activity, it’s just a suggestion if you’d like your child to practice at home.

I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas Break! I missed my kiddos and I can’t wait to see them on Monday to hear about their adventures these past two weeks.
With the holidays behind us, now is the time of year where we have several uninterrupted months to really buckle down and get our standards mastered. It’s also a great time to pass off multiplication facts and raise reading ability. Below is an overview of the coming week.

Happy Last Week of School Before Winter Break (but who’s counting? 🙂 ). Our class has a lot of things to wrap up before we leave for break. The big thing that we will finish up is our middle of year testing. All of this needs to be completed before we leave for break, so please make sure that your child is here everyday. Please check out the rest of the post for more details on what is happening this week.

GRINCH PARTY!! – Students have been working for the last couple of weeks earning their Grinch hearts for our Grinch Party. They have been doing an amazing job so far of showing kindness, responsibility, and respect. Our class party will be on Friday, the 17th, from 8:45ish to 10:30ish. If you have volunteered to help please be here by 8:20 that day to help set up and get your assignments of what you will be doing.
MATH – This week we will be finishing up lesson 15 which is multiplying to find the area. We will also be reviewing math standards that we have learned so far this year.
ELA – We will be working on a Readers Theatre this week and reviewing ELA standards that we have learned so far this year.

Hello! We have a lot going on the next two weeks. The big ones are Middle of Year Reading and Math testing that we started today. It is so important that your child is here as much as possible! I would like them to get plenty of practice and review before their testing! Some helpful tips to help your child prepare is to make sure they get good sleep the night before and eat a good breakfast so that they feel ready for the day. Also, please make sure that you are still reading 20 minutes OUT LOUD with your child every night. This is going to be the best practice! I am so excited for them to show how much they have grown!

Sometime this week Middle of Year testing for Reading and Math will start.

Oh my goodness! So much cuteness was at our school last Friday. We had a blast and everyone looked so amazing in their costumes. I hope that everyone had a fabulous Halloween. At the end of this post there are some pictures from the day.
