Valentine’s Day Reminders

  • The Valentines Treat Permission Form  needs to be completed to receive any Valentines with anything edible.
  • There are 26 students in our class. If your student brings Valentines to pass out make sure there are enough for everyone.
  • Please do NOT have Valentines labeled with the names of who they are for.
  • Students may choose to bring a decorated Valentines box or something similar. I will provide a bag for students that do not bring one.

Important Dates:

MATH – This week we will work on fractions on a number line.  There is an activity attached to the family letter below. This is a good activity to do with your child if you want go give them some extra practice. Please continue to work on multiplication facts with your child at home. In class students will be showing what they know by passing off timed tests.

ELA: This week we will be working on Unit 4 Week 5 in our Wonders program. Below is an outline of what we are learning in class. Our emphasis will be on using text evidence to identify the theme of a text.

Week of February 5, 2024

I loved meeting with everyone at Parent Teacher Conferences, so thank you for taking the time to meet with me. You have wonderful children and I consider myself lucky to be their teacher!

MATH – We are going to be BUSY this week! We will be working on scaled graphs and have our first introduction to our fraction unit! Please continue to work on multiplication facts with your child at home. In class students will be showing what they know by passing off timed tests.

ELA: This week we will be working on Unit 4 Week 4 in our Wonders program. Below is an outline of what we are learning in class. Our emphasis will be on comparing different informational texts.

Week of January 28, 2024

The time has come…PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES ARE THIS WEEK!! Your student is preparing a presentation for YOU! Please sign up ASAP if you haven’t already. Please also make sure your student attends the conference with you!

On Wednesday, February 14th, we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day. We will have the opportunity to pass out and receive Valentines. This year administration will allow candy to be placed in Valentine’s Day cards. However, students will not be allowed to eat them in class and we still need permission, so please fill out this form. – Valentine Permission Form We have 27 students in our class. If your child chooses to participate, please make sure they bring enough Valentines for every student. 

Please do NOT have your child write who the cards are to- only who they are from. 

Students can decorate a Valentine’s box, or something similar, to bring on that day. I will have a bag to give to students who do not bring a box from home.

Week of January 22, 2024

Aquarium Field Trip This Week!

  • Make sure your child is at school on time (once the buses arrive we will NOT be able to wait for late students)
  • Make sure your child is dressed for the weather (we will be eating lunch outside)
  • All students need to be in their normal uniform attire
  • Make sure your child has a backpack (they will be carrying their own lunch, coat, etc.)
  • If you stated your student is going to have home lunch make sure it is in their backpack
  • If you selected school lunch for you child, it has been ordered and will be given to them the morning of the field trip
  • Do NOT send your child with any money (they will not be allowed to purchase anything)
  • If you have not already please pay the $5 student donation for the field trip (paid to the office)

The sign up will be sent out towards the end of this week. To be able to get a time that works best for your family make sure to sign up ASAP. Please note that I have enough slots available for each student and their family. Week of January 2, 2024

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I am so excited for our return tomorrow and I hope you had an enjoyable break. I know that the children are excited about the gifts they received, but I am requesting that all toys and gifts remain at home.

Please note that devices that can be used to make or receive calls/texts are to be kept in backpacks and turned off during the day; this includes cell phones, watches, etc.

Week of December 11, 2023

Our wonderful students are working hard to earn their hearts for our Grinch party. Remember, each student has been working to earn 3 hearts and these hearts represent RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY & KINDNESS. We will be holding our Grinch party on Friday, Dec. 15th.

GRINCH PARTY VOLUNTEERS

For those of you planning to help with our Third Grade Grinch Party this Friday, please know that we wouldn’t be able to pull this off without you! Set up and instructions for running your activity will begin at 8:30 in the gym, and we should be done cleaning up by about 10:15. If your plans have changed and you won’t be able to be there, please let me know. Otherwise, we’ll see you in the gym Friday morning!

Yearbook Cover Contest

The time has come for us to select a yearbook cover for our 2023-24 elementary yearbook. We will be holding a Yearbook Cover Contest to select two students whose artwork will be featured on the front and back cover of the yearbook. This year, students can choose to do artwork that is created digitally or hand-drawn. Each entry must be brought in on a white 8 ½ X 11” paper, and include the school name along with the student’s first and last name in one corner. We will be looking for entries that represent this years theme which is “BE GREAT!” Entries are due by Friday, January 5, at 8:30 am. Here is a list of digital art programs suitable for children: Adobe Fresco, Gimp, Krita, Artweaver Free, ArtRange, Sketchpad, Astropad Studio, Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape, Vectr, FireAlpaca, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Paint, Procreate, Tux Paint, Drawing for Children. Feel free to call the school with any questions.

MATH – This week we are continuing learning about area. If your student does not have ALL OF THEIR MULTIPLICATION FACTS MEMORIZED it is going to be much more challenging for them to be successful. Please make sure you practice multiplication facts with your students for at least 5 minutes every day!

Grinch Party

We will be holding our 3rd Grade Grinch party on Friday, Dec. 15th. This party is a favorite for most third graders because it is done as an entire grade. We will need help from 8:00 – 10:30. If you can volunteer to help the entire time, please fill out the google form so we know how many people are available to help out.

If you help out with any party this is the one to do it! We won’t even ask you to plan anything!! We already have all the games/activities, we just need your help with set up, take down, and manning the rotations.
