MATH – We are moving on to lesson 10 and it is our very first division lesson!!  Please make sure that you continue practicing the multiplication facts with your child at home.

ELA: This week we will continue working on Unit 2 Week 4 in our Wonders program. Below is an outline of what we are learning in class. Our emphasis will be on making predictions to identify the theme of the story.

Week of October 30, 2023

This week is going to be a busy one! We have Halloween and Red Ribbon Week. See flyer for details on ways we are going to embrace saying no to drugs!

HALLOWEEN

We have a lot of fun planned for Halloween on Tuesday! We will be having our annual Halloween Parade starting at 9:00am. For those who would like to watch the parade, please plan on bringing camping chairs or blankets to sit along the outside of either Q1 or Q2.

Please remember and follow our school’s costume guidelines:

  • Costumes should be modest and without blood and gore
  • Face paint and masks are allowed, however masks will only be worn when directed by the teacher
  • Weapons or anything that depicts violence is not allowed

Week of October 16, 2023

I hope that everyone enjoyed their fall break! I know that I did. October is just going to get busier now that we are back! The last day of first term is this Friday. I can hardly believe it! Term grades will be posted this week, if you have questions about accessing your student’s grades feel free to contact me, or ask during parent teacher conferences.

MULTIPLICATION:

We have been practicing songs to learn multiples. This is one way we are learning our multiplication facts. Some students and families have asked for these so they can practice at home. Week of October 9, 2023

Fall break is this week and your students have earned it! They have been working hard and I am so proud of the growth they are making. I hope you all enjoy the break!

Another Reward!

Our class has already earned their next reward. Yep! They’re THAT amazing!

Tomorrow, October 6, we will watch a short show after lunch. They may bring a small pillow and/or small blanket, but EVERYTHING needs to fit in their backpacks. I will have a small treat for them, but it will be something you’ve already given permission for.

Week of September 25, 2023

  • Tuesday, Sept 26th – Elementary Picture Day

MATH: We will start lesson 5 which really kicks off our multiplication unit. We will be learning how to multiply by 0s, 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s. Below is the family letter explaining how I teach this lesson and it includes an activity that helps with this skill. If you would like to give your child extra practice with multiplication, this activity would be an excellent option to use.

ELA: This week we are taking the Unit 1 Assessment as a class. Please make sure your student is in class each day to take the assessment with us! Since this is our first unit test of the year we will take it together and use it as a chance to learn some test taking strategies as well as review all we have learned so far.

Week of September 18, 2023

COOKIE DOUGH FUNDRAISER:

Our annual fundraiser starts tomorrow! Your child will be sent home with their fundraising packet. You should also be getting more information from the school. MATH: We will start this week finishing up our Subtraction lesson from last week. Then we will move onto lesson 4 this week which is understand the meaning of multiplication.
