Happy Last TWO months of school!

Dear Parents and Students –

I hope you have had a very enjoyable and most deserved time off. Monday starts off the final hurdle to the end of the year. I have a few ideas on motivating our kiddos to stay focused and push through to the end of the year. Final Mastery of the rest of our standards, which means all grades will be updated in each quarter since NO GRADE is final until the very end. Students can keep working toward any standard to master till I put in final grades in the last quarter. It may seem weird where they are put in different quarters, but the end result is all that matters.

Math tutoring reminder – I will tutor any math standard your child wants or needs on Monday and Tuesday during the week. It starts tomorrow April 11 and April 12 going til our last tutoring sessions on Monday, May 2 and Tuesday, May 3. Testing will start the next week and at that point I want the students focused on the tests and nothing else.

Here are the final important dates for the year. PLEASE, make sure to mark them on your calendar, especially, the RISE (state test), iReady Diagnostic, and Dibels (aka Acadiance).

Dates:

  • Sunday, April 17 – Easter
  • Monday, May 9 – Friday, May 13 – RISE testing (we will test once in the morning and then in the afternoon.) Please, try not to schedule any appointments during this time.
  • Monday, May 16 – Friday, May 20 – iReady Diagnostic Test and Dibels Test
  • Wednesday, May 25 – 5th Grade Field Trip/Field Day – Junction – (If… applicable funds)
  • Thursday, May 26 – Early Out
  • Friday, May 27 – Early Out – LAST day of the school YEAR!

PS – Don’t forget to get a year book if you want one. Talk to the office, they still are selling them.

PPS – If you are opting your child out of the RISE test, be sure to let me know and sign the proper paper work at the office. Thank you!!!

PPPS – I will get more information/ permission slips out about how the RISE test will go and the mid fun we do during the hard testing weeks. (some past examples: gum, treats, technology devices for down time, keeping to a good sleeping schedule, eating a good breakfast, snacks.) I will let you know what we are doing this year as soon as I do.

About angie.young

Hi - My name is Mrs. Young. I am excited to start a new adventure teaching at Quest Academy. I have taught previously in Weber School District in 2, 3, 4, and 6th grades. This will be the start of my 13 year. I also taught in Ogden District, before receiving my Bachelor's of Science, in special education preschool and long term subbing for math in the Jr. High Schools. My hobbies are my family!!! AND singing and acting. I have always loved art and theater. I hope to incorporate art into the technology and science to help our young minds expand to new measures. My family has been part of the education system since I was born. I have always been taught to have a passion for learning and growing. I am very excited to help my students this year to achieve all their goals and never stop fulfilling their passions in life. Welcome to 5th GRADE!!!
