E-mails, Anastasia Field Trip, and Ice Cream Party!

Dear Parents –

As you know, Aspire, has been having issues on sending group emails, and in general working. I want to stay in contact with my parents better and NOT be worried if you have received or not received an important notice. So, I have made a form that will make collecting your emails easier for me. I will use this email to contact you for tutoring, class parties, field trips, all of the above. If you have MORE than one email you would like this information sent to, please fill the form out twice. Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience.

Next, we have an ice cream party coming up and I need permission for the food. Please read it carefully and turn it in before next Friday.

Finally: Our class has the privilege of attending the musical “Anastasia” at Fremont High School on Thursday, November 10. We will be taking buses and be back at the school in time for lunch and the rest of the afternoon. We do not require any parent volunteers for this field trip. Prior to the field trip, we will be discussing proper etiquette during a live performance, including appropriate applause and not talking during the play. Anything that can be reiterated at home would be helpful. Please note, we will be leaving Quest PROMPTLY at 8:30 Thursday morning. If your child is not here when we leave you will need to make alternative arrangements from them until we return at 12:30. Thank you again FREMONT for this great opportunity.
Warmest Regards,Fifth Grade Team

Dear Parents and Students –

I love the holidays and sharing them with my students. On Monday, we celebrate Halloween each year at Quest. It is one of my favorite traditions. I have discussed the rules with the kiddos and what is allowed and not allowed. Thank you again for the donations and treats that many of you have supplied and will supply on Monday. I hope for it to be a fun and safe holiday for us all.

Schedule:

8:30 am – kids will be picked up by the teacher

9:00 am – Halloween PARADE – parents can come and watch

10:00 am – change out of costumes, or put away items students do not want to lose.

10:15 am – Break

10:30 am – Read Aloud

10:45 – Games, Treats, Movie

12:20 pm – Recess then lunch

1:10 – Halloween Costume Awards

1:20 pm – Excused!!!

I told kiddos it is a TOTAL fun day. There is no work, attendance will be taken, but if a child chooses to miss this day they will miss nothing academic.

Weekly Update: October 17 – 21

Dear Parents & Students –

Please, remember that math tutoring has changed to Mondays & Wednesdays AFTER school from 3:20 – 3:50 pm. Parents, your child has a student tracker that they are logging their scores in. Please, check for Mastery. 3 is Proficient and 4 is above. If students have NOT passed off different math standards, they can always retest on Fridays with me or after school during these tutoring times. We are constantly practicing all the standards. On IXL, students can work at home on ANY of the topics they are struggling in. They SHOULD know where and what area to go to through the google classroom. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

This week for Math we are learning: Lesson 10 & 11 – Adding and Subtracting Decimals

We are also REVIEWING for Math lesson 9 – Compare / Round decimals – We do NOT test on this standard, but we will be practicing the skill.

ELA – We are learning to compare and contrast different story elements.

Phonics / Spelling – Plurals

Writing – Writing topic sentences for informational paragraphs.

Tuesday, October 18 – Cookie Dough / and Jerky pick up! Thanks again for your support on our FUNDRAISER! It was a GREAT success! Also, to our class for being the HIGHEST SELLERS! xoxoxo
