The tannenbaum, or Christmas tree, is a custom that comes from Germany. A German minister , Martin Luther, saw a little pine tree covered with fresh snow, glistening in the moonlight. He thought the tree would be beautiful if it was decorated and inside the house, For many years German people lit lighted their trees with wax candles of various colors. They also hung cookies, candies and fresh fruits from its branches.
