Adding in Math

We have started Adding with regrouping in class! This is an exciting time for second graders, they get so excited when they understand this concept. We will work on this thoroughly throughout the year. You can help them by giving them random problems to practice. Here are a few examples you can use to help them practice at home.

Moby Max Math Assignment: Add with Rectangular arrays


Group 1a

Monday-Cut and Sort with an adult and explain this week’s rule.

Tuesday- Put words in ABC order. Have your buddy (parent/ older sibling) check the order. Then write/type them in ABC order.

Wednesday- Buddy sort, then write/type the words in the “writing sort” section.

Thursday- Choose 6 of this week’s word study words. Write/type each word in a complete sentence. Each sentence must have at least 5 words. Underline each word in the sentence

Field Trip Tomorrow

Parents, if you are going on the field trip tomorrow, please pay $4 to the office BEFORE Friday. If we don’t have the $4 before Friday, then you will have to stand in a long line when you get there and may miss going on the hayride with the class. Thanks for all you do!

Please remember, we have 5 second grade classes to bus over, we do not have room for parents, you can meet us there around 9:30.

Be sure to bring a cold sack lunch, good walking shoes, and wear a spirit/red polo shirt!

Field Trip Friday!

We are so excited for the field trip!

If you checked “yes” on the permission slip that you were helping to chaperone, I am planning on you!

Parents will need to drive separately since we have limited space on the bus. We will leave school at 9:15, and be at Black Island Farms around 9:30-9:45. Parents, please meet us there. Here is the address:

This is a dollar dress down day. Please have your child wear a Rams school spirit t-shirt,
if he/she has one, or a Red Polo, Its easier if we all look similar. Jeans are fine, since it is
Dollar Dress Down (for $1 of course).

If you have trouble submitting homework online, you may print it each week and submit it that way.

Print on Mondays, complete assignments nightly, check off what you completed! At the end of the week, GLUE the sort on the back page.

Daily practice of lessons is critical to your child’s academic success. Children need to be completing their homework daily. All of the spelling (word sort) assignments are the same weekly, only the word lists change. The new words can be found here on the blog on Monday. Your child’s Word Sorts are specific to their learning needs.
