This week we have been working on our basic math drills, 1+2, 2+5, etc.This is a wonderful site for your 2nd grader to go to and practice these basic math drills. I will be adding this to the homework menu for next week. Please take a moment and have your child practice some math. Spending time on this website every night would help improve your child’s math facts so much!

I apologize for some confusion regarding homework this week. I have not set up your child’s account for spelling city or IXL math, please do not do these menu items this week. I have modified this weeks spelling homework from 3 to 2. Emphasize practice on their 5 high frequency words and vocabulary words for this week. Thank you for your patience with the start of school being busy.
I have added this weeks homework to the “Homework” tab. I have changed when Homework Notebooks will be handed out and returned to me so that you will be able to record weekend reading minutes. I ask that Homework Notebooks be turned in to me on Friday mornings, I will then send it back home with your child on Friday afternoon. Every Monday I will post an additional list of 5 spelling words (2nd Grade high frequency words), that they need to be able to read/use in a sentence/spell by the end of the school week.
I am looking for volunteers to help me in the classroom next week! I will begin reading with each of my students in order to assess where they are. This takes time on my part and I need parents to help me with all my other kiddos in guiding them through planned activities. I will plan something for them to do, and I need you to be with them for guidance and direction. I need you from 9:30-10:30, or 1:40-2:30. Please let me know if you can help at these times. We will be doing a fun journal writing book this year titled “Letters Home”. Your child will write a letter to you every Friday in their notebook, and bring it home. Please read what they have written and write a small note back to them. When they return their book on Monday, with a parent response to their letter, they will receive a sticker on the front cover! This will be a fun writing activity to help keep you up to date on what we are doing each week in class. Watch for the notebook to come home today! Thanks and have a great weekend!

Ordering books for your children through this program gives our class points towards free books that your child will utilize in the classroom throughout the year.
