Parent Teacher Conference

Here at Quest we do Parent Teacher Conferences a little differently. Instead of meeting with everyone in two consecutive nights, we meet with a handful of students each month. This coming Thursday September 24, I will be meeting with a few families to celebrate and talk about students’ academics, behaviors and ways to improve 2nd grade skills. I will contact you when I would like to schedule.

You are also welcome to contact me if you have concerns and you’d like to meet for that month. If there are any parents that would like to meet next week, please email me ASAP. I will be scheduling myself for that night very soon.

In the meantime, watch for an email in the upcoming months from me, asking to meet with you. I look forward to celebrating all your children are doing in 2nd grade!

Raz Kids

I have read and leveled all my kiddos. We have a fun reading program that the students can go to online here at school and is also available for home use. They can use this for their reading minutes! We logged in today, so they are some what familiar with it.

The teacher username is: acashin
Password: This is the students “super secret password” (they know what this is)

They were told to only share this password with their parents and myself. This alleviates other students’ going into their profile and spending hard earned points, this upsets us all when this has happened in the past. Students can even record themselves reading, and I love to go see and hear all the progress they are making with Raz Kids.

Here is the link for Raz Kids
They can also access this from questac.org> student links> Raz Kids

Welcome!

I am so excited for this week to finally start! Second grade is so much fun, I sure hope you will love it as much as I do!imgresI will post on this blog a few times a week, so be sure to “subscribe” to our blog. You can do this by clicking on the link on the right side menu.

Also, be sure to read over our class disclosure, then sign and submit it. It will be a few posts DOWN, called “Class Disclosure”.

One more thing….. If you do not want your child’s picture posted on the blog, please let me know ASAP! I post many of the fun things we are doing and I want to make sure I am respecting parents’ wishes.

See you on Wednesday!!

Love you all!

I give you back your child, the same child you confidently entrusted to my care last fall. I give them back pounds heavier, inches taller, months wiser, more responsible, and more mature than they were then. Although they would have attained their growth in spite of me, it has been my pleasure and privilege to watch their personality unfold day by day.
I give them back reluctantly, for having spent nine months together in the narrow confines of a crowded classroom, we have grown close, have become a part of each other, and we shall always retain a little of each other. Ten years from now if we met on the street, your child and I, a light will shine to our eyes, a smile to our face, and we shall feel the bond of understanding once more, this bond we feel today. We have lived, loved, laughed, played, studied, learned, and enriched our lives together this year.
I wish it could go on indefinitely, but give them back I must. Take care of them, for they are precious. Remember that I shall always be interested in your child and their destiny, wherever they go, whatever they do, whoever they become. Their joys and sorrows I’ll always be happy to share.

With much love, appreciation and adoration,  Mrs. Cashin

STEM Science

We did a fun STEM project today. The goal was to build the tallest tower out of uncooked spaghetti noodles and small marshmallows. These were the only materials they could use (No eating of course), they had 2-4 people in a group, and 1 hour to plan and complete their objective. It was so great to see them plan, fail, try again, collaborative and create! Great job all!!
