Moby Max Help

Here is an example of what MobyMAx looks like. This child is working on “ones and tens”. In order to complete the whole lesson, they need to finish clear down to “Place value conversion to a number”. After they have completed this lesson, it should take them to the next assigned lesson. If they are behind, it will have them complete previous weeks’ lessons as well. In order to stay current, they need to be working on this every week. We will spend a few days in class this week working on it to help some of you get caught up.
I will start informing you on the blog what lesson they should be on for the week in order to assure we are all staying caught up!
This weeks lesson is called Skip Counting: 5’s, 10’s, and 100’s

    Special Visitor

We are learning about plants this month for science! We are going to do a lot of exciting things including having a Bee Keeper come visit our class. He will be visiting us Wednesday September 17. He will be bringing in an observation hive with live honeybees and he will talk about the process of pollinating plants. The bees are completely contained and the students love to see them at work. If you are uncomfortable having your child in the classroom at this time, please let me know and I can arrange something/somewhere they can be for this period of time.

    Sending work home

As you are seeing math work being sent home, Id like you to watch for a few things. When I correct work, I circle problems that were missed. If they miss 1 or 2 problems, I may or may not have them work on correcting it. When I circle 2 or more problems missed, I will pass it back to them, and pull them back to work one on one with me to help them understand that concept a little better. If you see work sent home with circled work, that they have not corrected, they can work on fixing it at home then bring it back for a better score.

I still need some permission slips signed…..

      Parents,

On Friday, September 26, 2nd grade will be going on a field trip to Black Island Farms in Syracuse. This field trip will align with September’s science unit, which is plants. The children will be participating in farm activities and will be going on a hayride. Please let us know if your child has allergies and if there are any precautions that we must take. We will need to leave school at 9:15 am sharp so please have your student to school on time that day. We will be eating at the farm and everyone will need a sack lunch. There will be no microwaves to use, so please bring something that does not need to be heated up. Because of the cost of the field trip, we are asking for a $5.00 donation for this activity. Please turn all donations in to the office. We will return to school at approximately 12:45. We will not have space on the bus so parents will need to car pool or drive on your own. We will have room for chaperones but parents will need to pay a $4 entrance fee to the school office by Thursday, the 26th.  Otherwise you will need to wait in line at the farm to pay our fee. We are asking that no siblings are included on this field trip. The address is 3178 S 3000 W in Syracuse. This is a dress down day. Please have your child wear a Rams school spirit t-shirt, if he/she has one.

Please sign the attached signature space and return to your teacher no later than Friday, September 19th.

      Homework Success!

Great job with turning in Homework this week! I had about 85% of you submit it online….wow…you are such smarties!! Please remember to submit your sort EACH night. I had a few of you miss a night. If you by chance miss one night, please make it up the following night by submitting it then.

Also, please dont forget to submit the “Weekly Homework Checkoff” submission on Thursday nights. This tells me that you read every night, did your Moby max for the week and worked on flash cards. Only about 10%of you submitted this part!

This was a great first week of homework, and I know that it will just keep getting better and better!
