Here are some fun ideas to practice your spelling words each night.
  • Typing spelling lists on the computer is very motivating. Use the computer to write sentences for each spelling words.  It’s a great way to teach word processing skills.
  • Invest in a set of letter stampers and let your child stamp out their spelling words.
  • Give your child a Scrabble board.  Let them take the letters out of the bag, lay them on the table face-up, and try to fit all of their spelling words on the board.
  • Collage- cut individual letter from magazines to spell out your words.
  • Get a set of magnetic letters.  (You can find them cheap at garage sales.)  Give your child letters, a spelling list, and a timer.  See if they can complete it in 1-3 minutes.
  • Create a Wordle using your spelling words (Use the 5 High frequency words for this week)
Go to wordle.net, Have your child type in all of their spelling words and print off a cool wordle!
  • Go to SpellingCity.com and practice your spelling words, practice tests and play games. The username is your first and last name squished together with the #1 after it, The password is rams. example:johnsmith1 Accounts are set up!
Math Fluency

  • Practice math on these printable math worksheets on tlsbooks.com
  • Math Magician- Practice addition drills http://resources.oswego.org/games/mathmagician/cathymath.html It is so important for students to know their math facts (adding or subtracting 5+3 quickly, flash cards). As we get into more ways to add and subtract, having this skill mastered helps them with all aspects of math. So please, help your child with their math facts!

Christmas in Sweden

In Sweden the Christmas season begins on December 13. Then the eldest daughter, who plays the roll of Saint Lucia, serves coffee and sweet rolls to the family in the morning. She wears a lighted advent wreath on her head and sings carols.

We made our own advent wreaths and sang Christmas carols.
