Love you all!

2015-05-27 12.00.53Dear Parents,

I give you back your child, the same child you confidently entrusted to my care last fall. I give them back pounds heavier, inches taller, months wiser, more responsible, and more mature than they were then. Although they would have attained their growth in spite of me, it has been my pleasure and privilege to watch their personality unfold day by day.
I give them back reluctantly, for having spent nine months together in the narrow confines of a crowded classroom, we have grown close, have become a part of each other, and we shall always retain a little of each other. Ten years from now if we met on the street, your child and I, a light will shine to our eyes, a smile to our face, and we shall feel the bond of understanding once more, this bond we feel today. We have lived, loved, laughed, played, studied, learned, and enriched our lives together this year.
I wish it could go on indefinitely, but give them back I must. Take care of them, for they are precious. Remember that I shall always be interested in your child and their destiny, wherever they go, whatever they do, whoever they become. Their joys and sorrows I’ll always be happy to share.

With much love, appreciation and adoration,  Mrs. Cashin

STEM Science

We did a fun STEM project today. The goal was to build the tallest tower out of uncooked spaghetti noodles and small marshmallows. These were the only materials they could use (No eating of course), they had 2-4 people in a group, and 1 hour to plan and complete their objective. It was so great to see them plan, fail, try again, collaborative and create! Great job all!!

Science Experiments!

We had a lot of fun doing science today!! We made Elephant Toothpaste, Made a Balloon blow up on its own, and made FlUbBeR!!

The kids got to take a little sample of the flubber they made. I gave them instructions not to play with it on carpet in their house. But instead play with it outside!! It is NOT edible. Here is the recipe and instructions in case you/they want to create this at home.

Flubber Recipe
Mixture 1
1 1/2 cups of warm water
2 cups Elmer’s Glue
Food coloring

Mixture 2
3 tsp. Borax
1 Cup Warm Water

Stir mixture 1 together in a bowl
Stir mixture 2 together in a separate bowl.
Make sure both are mixed well.
Pour mixture 1 into mixture 2, stir together
You now have FLuBeR!
