First, Monday we are planning on participating in a webinar with Jane Goodall! We have been talking about adaptations and habitats as part of our 4th grade science core curriculum. This webinar will help connect these concepts in a real world situation with someone who is actually working in this field. In preparation, I would like to show the class the “Chimpanzee” DisneyNature Movie. It is about an hour long and shows the life of a chimp living in the wild from 3 months old to adulthood. It is rated G. I have gotten permission from administration to show this movie so if you are not okay with your child watching this movie please email me tonight and I will find an alternative for them during this time.
Next, the donations have started for the field trip! We appreciate your support to allow our students to get these real life experiences! I am confident that we will be able to go as more donations are coming in!
Finally, here is the message from the school regarding the assembly tomorrow:
Have you heard the FANTASTIC news yet? If you haven’t, I am overjoyed to announce that Brandon Mull (author of Fablehaven, The Beyonders, and more) will be visiting our school tomorrow on Friday, April 17th! We were incredibly lucky to be able to book him, and we are so excited!!! This assembly will be for grades 4-9, and it will begin at 1:30 in the afternoon.
Mr. Mull will talk to everyone for about half an hour, there will be a short Q & A segment, and then students will be able to purchase books and/or have him sign their books. We will also announce the winners of the “Candy Wars” competition at the assembly. Hastings will be here selling the three books in the Five Kingdoms series. Make sure to bring money if you are planning on purchasing any books. Hastings will accept cash, check, or credit card. The prices for the books they’ll have here are as follows:
- Five Kingdoms: Sky Raiders = $7.99 (paperback)
- Five Kingdoms: Rogue Knight = $17.99 (hardcover)
- Five Kingdoms: Crystal Keepers = $17.99 (hardcover)
Students may also bring copies of his books from home to have him sign; however, in order to keep the line moving, each student may only have one book for him to sign. If there are any students who would like him to sign more books, let them know that he will also be signing books at the Hastings in Harrisville tomorrow night at 7 PM. I look forward to seeing everyone there!
