End of the Quarter

We are at the final week of 2nd quarter and it is also a short week. (No school this Friday or next Monday… a 4 day weekend for the students!) For these reasons, we will be having only reading as homework this week. We will be doing reading benchmark tests this week as well as reassessing spelling to verify that growth is being made and that your student is on the best spelling pattern for them.

We have just started fractions in math and are working on finding equivalent fractions. Would you please help your student find examples of fractions in the real world. They will have an assignment that will include these real world examples that they bring later this week. (Nothing need to be turned in just help them look for fractions in the places you already go as a family. Example: your cars gas tank, measurements in cooking, how much power is left on your ipad, etc) It can be a fun scavenger hunt with a theme!

We are also heading into Rocks in Science this week so if you happen to be available Thursday afternoon, we will be doing our rock experiment on Thursday at 1:15. We could use one or two extra pair of hands in the class for this activity. It will approximately be from 1:15 to 2:00. Please let me know if you plan on coming.

Just to recap, reading is the only assigned homework this week and please report it on the Thursday homework form. Thanks for all you do and I can’t stress enough how much I really appreciate how supportive you all are of our class! Have a great week!
