Jackets in Class

With it being so cold out it is hard to keep everyone at a comfortable temperature all day both inside and out of the school. Students are welcome to wear any kind of layers (Coats, snow suits, hats, ear muffs, gloves etc.) when they are outside at recess and before or after school. During the school day, while we are in the building, students need to be following school dress code when they are chilly. This includes red, white, or navy sweaters (no graphics or hoods) or they may layer a long sleeve shirt (also red, white or navy) under their collared polo shirt. It has become an issue that students want to wear their normal hoodies during the day which causes arguments or constant reminders for students who aren’t following this school wide expectation. Would you please talk to your students about if they are getting cold at school and come up with a plan to stay in uniform compliance. I keep our classroom at 72 degrees so if they are still getting cold, appropriate layering may be the best choice. Thanks for your support and please let me know if you have any questions.
