Class Update

Parents,

First, there are several students in our class that do not have their student ID badge anymore. Would you please ask them if they have it and if not, they will need to buy a new one which costs $5. Some students said they know where it is at home and if that is the case please put it in their backpack tonight so they remember it for tomorrow. They should be leaving them on their desk every night. (ID badge is part of the uniform compliance point on DoJo)

Next, We are working on being ready for the transition to 5th grade and part of that prep is helping the students become more independent in their work and behavior. In our class, the expectation is that when the students are asked to correct a behavior that is disrupting their own or someone else’s learning, they will say okay and do it right away. If they don’t correct the behavior they do a “Think Time” that is a 5 minute break from the situation to give them time to stop, get out of the situation, think about what they were doing and think about what they should have been doing. They have been doing Think Time sheets all year but these think time sheets are now coming home so that parents are aware of the behavior at school. If your student brings it home please sign it and send it back the next day. You should also see that Class DoJo would reflect how their day went as another option to keep track of how your students are doing in class behaviorally. We have been focusing on building each other up so that is something you can watch for on DoJo in the coming weeks.

Finally, this Friday we have several things going on one of which is our STEM project. We are designing rooms from the Titanic and making a model of the Titanic on the wall outside 4th grade. All 4 classes are participating in this. If you have any supplies that would be helpful in a tissue box size model of a Titanic room and would be willing to borrow them to us that would be greatly appreciated. We have been assigned the Library, 5 First Class rooms, 5 Second Class rooms and 1 Third Class room as our section of the model. Ideas of things that would be helpful for the kids to use would be fabric, scrap book paper, carpet samples, doll house size furniture, modeling clay, anything that you can think of that would help them recreate a room on the Titanic.

I appreciate your continued support!
