I am so very impressed with your kids today! After school was a CRAZY situation and they handled themselves BEAUTIFULLY!!! I love that they calmly stayed together, followed directions, and comforted each other! Because of their responsible behavior we were one of the first classes to exit the school! I LOVE that they were patient to wait for the answer to what was happening until we got to the church and I could verify details!
THANK YOU parents for begin patient while we waited to know the exit procedure! I know that was a STRESSFUL situation and I appreciate that you were patient with me! I am grateful for your support!
At 5:00 when the school was cleared for reentry and I could finally get my car keys and leave, we were told that there was absolutely no bomb on the premises and that school would resume as normal tomorrow. Unfortunately I am off tomorrow for an appointment that I can’t rescheduled. I am confident that students will show the substitute the same respect and AMZING behavior that they showed me today!
Enjoy your evening and give your darling children an extra hug for me!

Welcome to another crazy week! We will be finishing up our unit on measurement and data and moving onto measurement and data using the metric system! As part of our data unit we will be collecting data to decide the VERY BEST BOOK AT QUEST ACADEMY!!!! Students worked in pairs on Friday to create google forms to use for the vote! ANYONE who has read the book can vote! So parents, get reading and get voting! The Google forms, graphs, and more information can be found right here on our blog under the “TOURNAMENT OF BOOKS” page! So vote often so we have some data to create graphs from!
Other stuff going on this week:
1. Homework is NORMAL: Spelling every night, math fluency at least twice, and a special math assignment on TENMARKS. (the kiddos asked for 3 assignments this week so that they can unlock some new math games) Their wish is my command, but just because it involves them practicing math! 🙂
2. The SeUsSiCaL the MuSiCaL school assembly will be held on Thursday afternoon from 2-3. Look for us at the JR HIGH if you pick up your kiddo early! Tickets for the actual play are on sale through the school website, or in the lobby beginning Friday! I snuck into the dress rehearsal on Saturday, and it is amazing (Especially the Cat in the Hat and Vlad Vladakoff) 😉
3. Biography Wax Museum is approaching quickly! Make sure you are working on your Tri-Fold! IT is due on FRIDAY! Also, if your speeches are written we will have time during centers for you to practice them! Bring a copy with you and I will make sure you have some time in class to work on them! Please do not spend a lot on costumes! This is not meant to be an expensive project for parents. Look through closets, ask grandmas, and be creative!
4. Friday is an EARLY OUT day! School will be dismissed at 1:00! I am assuming it is also a dollar dress down, but you may want to wait for final confirmation on that from the administration! We will also have class store at 11:00 that day. If you want to come and help, please come around 11!
That’s it! One more week and we will be having our wax museum! I am SOOOOOO excited to see all the hard work pay off! Enjoy your week!

We somehow went from not enough pages to too many, so they had to publish it in TWO VOLUMES! Those of you who purchased the book will receive the volume your child’s writing is in! I purchased TWO complete sets and will happily check them out to students! Please try to keep them checked out for only three days in order to let everyone have a chance to see the books!
If you ordered a copy, look for it today in your child’s backpack!
Thanks,
Mrs. Chidester

Thanks for the MANY MANY MANY offers of help to decorate the door! I had a parent volunteer to take charge and get it done next week, so you are all off the hook on this one! I really appreciate the offers!!!
Remember: READ-A-THON TOMORROW!!!!! Bring books and all donations!
-Mrs. Chidester
If any of you super talented crafty type people would like to decorate our classroom door for Dr. Seuss week let me know! There are no rules this year, but the door will need to be done by Wed march 4th to be judged. This year it will not be POQA judges, instead we will have a Kids choice award and a Staff pick. The kids will get to vote for one door in each grade. Then all the staff, admin, and teachers will vote for their favorite. We can do a in-class project to put on the door, or you can come up with your own idea!
If you have always wanted to decorate a classroom door, let me know and I will fulfill your long dream of decorating a classroom door! Just kidding, but if you have nothing better to do and need some volunteer hours this is a fun way to get them!
Thanks,
Mrs. Chidester
The POQA read-a-thon fundraiser will be help this FRIDAY!!! Our class will be reading from 1:00-2:00 on that day! The administration has asked that we not bring blankets, pillows, or stuffed animals on that day, so please keep them at home. Please make sure you bring your favorite book from home and your donation paper!
Thanks,
-Mrs. Chidester
