Equivalent Expressions
We started working on Equivalent Expressions today – We will be working on this for the rest of the year. We are mainly focussing on addition and subtraction expressions right now.
We started with the most amazing Picture Book! I love it! It is a great book to use when introducing this topic.

The two places we explored today in class were the iTools- under Algebra Mega Math– we went to Ice Station Exploration–Artic Algebra– A-Missing Addends and B-Equivalent Expressions The children should know how to play these, we did them in class with our Smart Board!Happy Math to you all!

Here is a great way to memorize the steps to SINGAPORE MATH… Singapore Math goes really well with Unit 3 in our new math program! I love it! I will record the kids singing and add it to the blog next week! But, I just wanted to get you the lyrics now…in case your children wanted to use the steps in their Math Homework!!!“That Analyzing Thing”

UNgrouping Method in Subtraction
Wow! We are already moving to Subtraction! We are going to start out the same as we did in Addition. First, we will work on UNGROUPING in Proof Drawings and Expanded Method (which is like All Totals Method in Addition). Please watch the videos if you have any problems working with your children at home!
