A Fabulous First Two days of Kindergarten!

We have had a fabulous first couple of days of Kindergarten! Your kids are so well behaved and have really given me their best. Here are a few things we have done so far:
On Friday: We covered classroom and bathroom procedures, we read The Night Before Kindergarten, we rode a virtual roller coaster, learned recess procedures, played outside with our new friends, found where to line up when we get here and at recess, practiced more procedures, colored our first day page, learned pack-up procedures, and finally…. learned knuckle bumps to teacher before going home with parents. They were amazing!
Today: We covered more procedures, practiced hallway behavior, got our pictures taken, and had an amazing time looking through some really cool glasses at the eclipse. We also had a small video and activities to go along with the eclipse.

You can expect these first few weeks will involve a lot of procedures infused with curriculum. The students will know the routines so well that we can really focus on learning.  It was a great start to the year. And just so you know….

KINDERGARTEN ROCKS!

Remember a great home for our TAKE HOME/HOMEWORK FOLDER is in our backpack. Please make sure you are checking it each night. Thanks so much!

Ready or not… here we go!

I can’t wait to see you all tomorrow for our first day of Kindergarten. This is going to be a great year. There will be many things to learn about how our classroom works. We will spend the next few days getting to know each other and learning what it means to act like a Kindergartener; but we will do it in a fun way.

Parents, remember to dress your child in the appropriate uniforms. Fridays are spirit day. Students can wear Quest Academy t-shirts with uniform bottoms and shoes. Also, dress for the weather. In the mornings it will start to get cool, but hot by the time we go to recess. Any sweater or jacket can be worn outside, but if they want to leave it on, it must be uniform appropriate.

PLEASE SEND A WATER BOTTLE WITH YOUR CHILD BEGINNING NOW! It takes so much class time to stand in line at the drinking fountain.  Water is sooo important for the brain. We have access to a sink, so they can fill their water bottles in the classroom.  Please LABEL IT. They will need to bring them home daily so we can keep things clean and germ free. It is fine to use store-bought water bottles too if that is more convenient.  Just label it.

I am working out the details for the solar eclipse.  I will send a post shortly with information.

Remember you can walk your child into the classroom on the first day, and then enjoy breakfast with the other BooHoo parents in the Quest library. :)
I feel really confident that your children will do great on their own.  See you all tomorrow!

Fall Kindergarten Testing

Important: For the first two days of school (Aug.16 and Aug.17), we will not be having regularly scheduled class. Instead, will be giving each individual student an extensive test to help us better assess where your child is academically. I use this information to customize each child’s education and to challenge them at their current level in reading and math. As soon as possible, please schedule a time that works best for you to bring your student into our classroom for testing.
