Homework November 5th – November 9th

Kindergarten homework is 20 minutes of reading each night. Your student will receive a reading log (in the homework folder) on Monday and it will be turned in on Friday. Reading 20 minutes a night is so important for your student. The reading needs to include: flashcards and baggie book practice. Reading time can also include somebody reading to your student, shared reading between them and a partner, audio listening to a book, etc.
I know time is precious… please take the time to read to and with your student. Their success depends on it. You will be amazed at what reading 20 minutes a night will do for your student.
The students receive a punch on their punch pass (here in class) for baggie book pass off and for a completed reading log at the end of the week. When their punch pass is full (10 punches) they get to pick out of our prize box.

I am sending home practice pages in your students homework folder. They are NOT required. They are for at home practice. However, if your student brings them back finished they will get an addition punch in their treasure box punch card.

Turkeys in Disguise

YOUR CHILD BROUGHT HOME A PICTURE OF A VERY “DISTRESSED” TURKEY. HE OR SHE DOESN’T WANT TO END UP ON SOMEONE’S THANKSGIVING TABLE. THEREFORE, THE TURKEY NEEDS A DISGUISE. PLEASE ALLOW YOUR CHILD TO OUTFIT THE TURKEY IN THE MOST CREATIVE WAY THEY CAN COME UP WITH (YOU MAY WANT TO HELP). ANY MEDIUM MAY BE USED, I.E.: CONSTRUCTION PAPER, CLOTH, FELT, FEATHERS, ETC. PLEASE CUT OUT THE TURKEY AND RETURN IT TO SCHOOL BY WEDNESDAY NOV. 7TH. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT AND HELP. YOU CAN GOOGLE “TURKEY IN DISGUISE” AND LOOK AT SOME PRETTY CUTE IDEAS.

Practice Library Book

IMG_4083 (1)

Our wonderful Librarian has sent home a practice library book with our kindergarteners today. They are to take care of it as if it is a real library book. They can do the activities in the book but please help them keep it in a safe place and not bend or tear it. It is due back on Monday November 5th. I believe she is planning on letting those that bring this practice library book back on time choose a real library book to check out.
Thanks so much for helping teach our kiddos how to treat borrowed books.
