Welcome Back January 2nd-January 5th.
Welcome back!
We have busy January coming up. We will be reviewing for mid-year testing in reading and Math. Please help your child practice nonsense words for NWF testing with skills in CLS (correct Letter sounds)and WWR (whole words read). Students will need to be able to look at a CVC word and sound out in their head and state the word for the test. Examples are tup, zut, yip, neg, fiz, cit. A fun game to play is with letter cards and building words and reading them together. Also reading passages that have been sent home in recent weeks our grade goal for fluency is 23 words in 1 minutes with 78% accurate. Math we will be working on addition and subtraction within 20 and also identifying numbers to 120. Counting by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s will also be assessed as well as students identifying which number has more between 2 numbers given. All these math skills can be practiced in car rides waiting in lines for things ,anywhere you have some extra time. I just wanted to thank you and the kiddos for the special gifts and cards for Christmas they were so sweet! I hope you had a great holiday break and are ready to get back on schedule. Ms. Strain
