Helpful Websites

Wow! What a crazy couple of days! I hope everyone is staying healthy, and not feeling too anxious.

Here are some amazing websites with videos and lessons to help you with several topics, but especially with math.  You can search by grade and also by topic. Both  Kahn Academy and CK-12 links are also in google classroom with links taking them directly to a video for that specific lesson,  but your student may not think to look there for help.

Kahn Academy has many different videos and lessons.  I have posted links to both the home page which will give you many different options, and to the 5th grade page.  You can still search for specific topics within math. (Adding fractions, multiplying decimals, etc.)

Another fantastic site is CK-12 Foundation.  They also have amazing information, videos, and lessons about many different topics.  Here is the link for the home page, where you can look explore all of the cool stuff they have:

I hope these help.   Thank you for your patience and understanding as we fine-tune our online school.  Please let me know if you have any questions or issues.

More information about on-line school.

Hello Everyone,
Thank you for being so flexible and cooperative during this interesting time.  I appreciate everyone coming to pick up the school materials and your willingness to partner with me as we teach your children.
If you have not watched the video from the previous post about signing in to Google Meet, please do so, it should be quite helpful. The link is here:

I have also made a video explaining what the process will be for my class during this time.

Finally, here is another copy of the letter I included in the packet that you picked up.  Just in case you need it.  It gives information about schedules, procedures, and my online “office hours”

As we go through the week, and figure out how things are working, some things may change.  Students will need to check google classroom regularly for information and updates.  I will also post updates on my blog.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you again for all of your help.  Stay healthy and have a great week!

Information for students that are checking out computers for home use

Hello Parents,
I appreciate everyone’s support and patience while we get everything sorted.
If you will be picking up a chromebook, please look at the information at the link.  You do not need to print it off.  They will have a copy for you to sign when you come to pick it up.  We are just posting it so you will be able to look over it beforehand to expedite pick up.

Here is a copy of the letter administration sent about the procedure for picking up materials.

Quest Families,

Our teachers and employees are working hard to ensure all student packets and Chromebooks may be picked up today and tomorrow. Most packets are for K-6 students, but a few jr. high students may have packets as well. The jr. high teachers will notify you if their classes have packets for pick up.

Pick up times are listed below. Please notice there are four different options. All parents need to park their cars and walk to the table that is labeled alphabetically, by student last name (see attached map for red dot pick-up areas). Each pick up window is two hours long. Thus, we ask that parents stagger times to ensure social distancing. If possible, please limit the number of individuals picking up materials to one per family. Please do not drive your car to the curb for pick up.

Chromebooks will be checked out in front of the jr. high building. There will be five different pick-up stations for these computers, which are also alphabetized by student last name (see yellow dots on attached map).

Pick up times:

Monday (today):
3:00pm to 5:00pm

Tuesday (tomorrow):
7:30am to 9:30am
11:30am to 1:30pm
3:00pm to 5:00pm

Thanks for all you do, Quest Families! We hope you are healthy and well!

Week of March 9 – 13

Important parking lot reminder.  We have had several issues with unsafe practices in the parking lot during drop off and pick up.  We want every student to be as safe as possible.  Please watch the following video reminder of parking lot procedures and safety so that we can avoid any unfortunate accidents.

Don’t forget Friday is our maturation class.  Parents are invited to attend.  Girls will be meeting in the Q1 gym at 8:40.  Boys will then meet in the gym at 9:40.  Many students are nervous about this event.  It may be helpful to address some of their concerns beforehand, so they know more of what to expect. Information about the specific topics is found at the following link. http://qacblogs.org/jelaine.hales/files/2020/02/2019-Maturation-Consent-ADA2.pdf

Week of March 2nd- 6th

Wow!  Is it really March already?
We are certainly getting Spring Fever in Room 226.  Even though the weather is starting to hint at spring, and we all want to be in the fresh air, it is important that we stay focused and keep working hard to do our best. It has been great to see academic progress from each student in his or her own way.  I look forward to seeing more growth as we head toward the final quarter of school.

We will be dividing with decimals.  The most important thing to remember is to move the decimals the same number of spaces in the divisor and the dividend.    Here is a link to a video explaining the process:

Tutoring will be on the normal date and time this week.  Tuesday, from 3:00 – 3:30.  We are focusing on division, but if your child needs extra help with something else, I can help them with that as well.
Please see the optional practice tab for more videos and practice pages.
