First Days Back

It has been great being back at school with your children. We have are really great group of kids in our class. It’s going to be a fantastic year! Here are a few notes you should be aware of.

Though parents have been allowed to drop their young students off these past few days, we now ask that students enter the building without adult assistance. Parents of kindergarten students are still welcome to enter the building so their child can be assessed by their teacher. Elementary students should enter the building through the front doors and then go out back through the recess doors. They could also go through the gate between the two buildings to access the back of the school. When the bell rings, they’ll line up as they’ve been taught. Thanks for your understanding in this matter as we try to mitigate student and staff exposure.

This Friday and next Friday are teacher work days. Students will stay home on these days as our educators assess how things are going and make adjustments to maximize everyone’s learning experience (on-campus and e-learning).

As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns. jhales@questac.org

Welcome to Ms. Hales’s Class

Hello Everyone, Welcome to Ms. Hales’s 5th grade  I am looking forward to meeting you all and having a wonderful school year!  In our class you can expect to work hard, have a lot of fun, learn amazing things, make new friends, and discover the power of a growth mindset.  I know many of us are nervous about coming back to school while Covid-19 is still so prominent, but I promise I will do everything I can, to keep us as safe as possible,  and to still have a good time at school.

I believe that learning should be fun and that enthusiasm is contagious – even protective face masks won’t keep you from catching  it! 😄

Everyday we’ll have fun by exploring new and interesting ideas.  Students will have the opportunity to pick a “Passion Project” where they get to research and prepare a presentation about whatever interests them.  I can’t wait to see what everyone chooses, and to get to learn from all of you!

This blog is a great place for you to come for information about our class. Details about assignments, upcoming activities and general school information can all be found here. I encourage you to follow my blog so that you are sure to get updates. Keep checking in for information about Back to School Night, and more about classroom procedures and expectations.

Enjoy the rest of summer break and I’ll see you all soon!
