January 20th – 24th

It is so important for your child to be at school as much as possible! The second half of the year flies by so quickly and we have tons to do. Soon we will be starting our Multiplication Madness as well as beginning to work on our class play.

Parent Teacher Conferences:
Parent Teacher Conferences will be Tuesday, 1/28 and Thursday, 1/30 from 3:30 – 8:00.  The sign up is located on BLOOMZ. ***If you have not subscribed to BLOOMZ, please do so ASAP! Our class code is BUJ8TP***

***This donation covers all of the supplies that your child is using in class, as well as maintaining a supply of pencils, lead, tissues, paper towels, hand sanitizer, art supplies, adding to the classroom library, etc…

Math:
We are continuing unit 3 lesson 18 and we will be working two step word problems using all math operations.  We will test on this skill on Thursday.

Reading:
This week we will have a review week because it is a short week.  Our main focus in class will be finding the main idea and key details in expository texts.  

JANUARY POEMS
Each month students are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED  to memorize at least one poem.  Below are the month’s poems.  We have been practicing in class but not enough to fully memorize the poems.  Please help your child with this activity.  Reading these poems multiple times to memorize helps builds reading fluency and accuracy with your child.  Students can pass off poems on Fridays whenever they are ready to recite them.

  • Read at least 20 minutes per day. Making sure that your child does his/her reading daily is the single most helpful thing you can do to support educational success.
