The Week of August 26th!

We had an amazing first week of school and I am so excited for this new school year.  Your kids are rockstars and I am so lucky that I will get to be their teacher.  I know that a new school year can be stressful on everyone, so if you have any concerns or questions please feel free to contact me.  I am here to help in anyway that I can.
Every Sunday night I will post information about our upcoming week.  I will have a variety of sections that will outline what we are learning, important upcoming dates, monthly poems, and homework.  Please make sure that you read through the blog and let me know if you have any questions.
This week we start Dibels testing on Monday and Thursday, so please make sure that your child has had a good nights sleep and has eaten breakfast.  We also have picture day on Thursday.  Picture forms went home on Friday with all students who were in class.  If you would like to purchase pictures please follow the directions on the form.
****If you haven’t paid your $30.00 donation for your child’s school supplies, you may do so at the front office or call the school 801-731-9859 and pay over the phone. ****
***If you have not subscribed to BLOOMZ, please do so as soon as possible! Our class code is BUJ8TP***

MATH
This week in math we will start rounding to the nearest 10 and 100.  The letter that is attached below explains what we are doing.  There are activities outlined that you can do with your student for extra practice.  These activities are not required but will give your child extra math practice at home.  These activities are not considered homework.

LANGUAGE ARTS
The form below explains our Language Arts curriculum for the week.  It outlines what we will be talking about, the stories we will be reading, our vocabulary words, and our phonics patterns for the week.  We will be doing a weekly spelling test, however I will not be putting in a score for these spelling tests.  I will use the words off of the list outlined, but in class we will brainstorm new words to add to it.  You can review the words on this list, but it is not required.

HOMEWORK
This week in class we will be working on logging into REFLEX so there will not be any math homework.  As for reading now would be a great week to start getting your child into the habit of reading 20 minutes a night.  I will send home a reading log next Friday so you can have it for the following week.
