News from 5th Grade
We had a successful first whole day of school. The students were able to go outside and view the eclipse for a little while today as well. They learned about the components of a solar eclipse by creating a flip-book.

What we are learning…
-Math: Explain the value of digits in a larger number, Powers of 10, Exponents.
-Language Arts:  Folktale “Hungbu and Nolbu.” Vocabulary Words define-example-ask.
  -Science: Solar Eclipse

Looking Ahead…

  • Friday, August 25this “Dollar Dress Down Day”. Your child has the option to wear dress down clothing on Friday, if they donate $1.00 (they need to bring the $1.00 to the classroom). If they choose not to participate, your child will need to wear their school uniform.

Homework
Your child is required to read 100 minutes every week. Please make sure he or she reads 25 minutes Monday-Thursday. Ten of the twenty five daily reading minutes must be read out loud. I will send home the reading and homework logs on Monday, September 11th.  These  logs will need to be completed and submitted each week. More information to follow.
