In 5th Grade this year we will be discussing current events. Each student will be assigned a date in which they will need to present their current event. The current event must have happened within two weeks of the assigned presentation date. There is a presentation schedule located under the “Homework Tab > Current Events”. Overview: This year our 5th Grade Class is going to research a current event. Each student will be responsible to find the event, and then complete the attached worksheet.

Sources: Each student may use a newspaper, news website, or magazine to search for their current event. If the article is found from a hard copy newspaper or magazine, it must be cut out from its source. If the article is found from the internet, it must be printed off from the website.

Worksheet: Each student will need to complete the attached worksheet to go along with their current event. Handwriting must be neat and legible.

Presentation: Each student will present their current event in class. On the day of the presentation, each student will need to be prepared to bring a hard copy of their current event article, and worksheet to class.

Schedule: Each student is assigned a specific day to present their current event. I will pass out the current event assignment to the assigned student one week prior to the due date.

Grade: The current event will be part of the homework grade.
