Comprehension strategy/skill: Ask and Answer Questions and Poetry: Rhyme. We read several different texts to go along with our theme: “Sort It Out: In what ways are things alike? How are they different?”

High Frequency Words (Power Words): come, does

Sound and spelling: practiced long /a/ (spelled a_e) and introduced long /i/ (spelled i_e).

*To reinforce high frequency words, phonics and fluent reading, please keep reading decodable stories that are sent home each week. Thank you!

Vocabulary: similar, sort, endless, perfect, experiment

Math: Lesson 25 “Compose and Decompose Teen Numbers with Symbols”

Science: This week we made bird nests. We watched how birds make their nests and raise their chicks and figured out why birds lay their eggs in spring!
If your child is curious about birds, check out the live cam at the Cornell Labs bird feeder here.
You and your child can see what birds are grabbing for a snack right now at this bird feeder in Ithaca, New York. You never know what birds will stop by.
