Here’s a quick overview of new things we learned this week:

Comprehension strategy/skill: “Reread” and “Topic and Details”. We read several different texts to go along with our theme: “Protect Our Earth: What ideas can you suggest to protect the environment?”
High Frequency Words (Power Words): Review #31-40
Sound and spelling review: introduced long /o/ (spelled o and o_e), long /u/ (spelled u and u_e) and reviewed long /a/ and long /i/ (spelled a_e and i_e)

Vocabulary: environment, protect, encourage, recycle, wisely
Science: After a brief review of the “Circle of Seasons” unit, students observed and described different kinds of weather that arctic foxes experience. Then we analyzed data about the weather where they live to identify seasonal patterns. We compared this to the weather data our class recorded during each season of our school year and found similarities and differences between the two!
