Snow Day At Home Learning

Please refer to the Snow Day Packet we sent home a few weeks ago (Screenshot below). The two assignments we sent home Tuesday (journal and math worksheet) can replace 1 ELA activity and 1 Math activity on the “Snow Day Choice Mat”. Please email me if your student chooses to do Nearpod and needs their current code or if you have any questions. You might also consider working on the following:

  • Power Words: know how to read and write “said” and “want”
  • Practice and record yourself reading today’s story found on SeeSaw (go through Clever)

Treehouse Museum Field Trip

We are looking forward to our upcoming Treehouse Museum field trip on Friday, March 31, 8:30-12noon. Please note the later time for dismissal.

$5.00 donations are welcome to help with our field trip expenses, including the cost of bus transportation. Donations may be paid in the Q1 office. Any extra funds will be used for our Kindergarten field day in May.

*Change to Dress Down Days

Dollar Dress Down will be THURSDAY, Dec. 15 (instead of Friday). Staff will be wearing ugly Christmas sweaters, so all students who have prepaid or bring a dollar are welcome to join in! (Or wear dress down clothing of their choice).

Free Dress Down day will be FRIDAY. Students are welcome to wear comfy pajamas that day (or regular dress down).

What We Are Learning

We are currently working on Unit 5 in Language Arts. Here are the power words, oral vocabulary words, letters, and sounds we will be mastering during this unit. We are continuing to work on handwriting and blending sounds to read words. We are reading decodable passages and recording our reading on SeeSaw. Watch for the decodable passages in the student take home folders and invite your child to read to you.

In math, we are counting to 100 by 10’s and 1’s. We will begin addition after the holiday break. We continue to work on our individual math pathways (on Nearpod). We enjoy celebrating and ringing the class bell as each child masters a standard.

Finally, in science we will begin our Seasons unit. We will discuss what to wear for different types of weather and explore the season cycles.
