Homework

IMG_0195Math homework will continue to be found in your child’s blue take-home-folder on the first day of the school week and is due on the last day of the school week (usually Fridays). Students: please write your name on it and have a parent sign it, indicating you’ve worked on the math activity together.

For (optional) extra math practice, Math Games and Activities will always be available on our blog when you click on the “Homework” tab

Please continue reading 20 minutes per night (Monday through Thursday) with your child. You do not need to keep track of your minutes, nor report reading homework.

Homework will continue to look the same each week, unless we inform you of any changes.  Thank you!

Quest’s Annual Fundraiser Aug. 28-Sept. 13

Screen Shot 2019-08-29 at 7.58.40 PMWhy an annual fundraiser?
Our annual fundraiser helps fund field trips, after school clubs, other fun activities and best of all, this will help build a school for students in another part of the world!

Our class will be bringing home order forms for the “Schools Building Schools Fundraiser” today (sorry they’re later than other classes…our class somehow got overlooked).  Our goal is to sell an average of $100 worth of items per student (10 notebooks, 7 sketchbooks, or 5 wall art prints). If we are able to reach this goal then we will be able to have a dance party with Dr. Dave!  You are welcome to take order forms to work or around the neighborhood and the notebooks and journals make great Christmas or birthday presents.  Feel free to email with any questions.  Thank you for your support with this!

Students can earn a prize for each item sold and can pick those up before school on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays during the fundraiser.

Water Bottles

waterHot Weather + Recess = Thirsty First Graders!  🙂

Please send your child with a spill proof water bottle EACH DAY to keep in their cubbies.   One drinking fountain with five, first grade classes would take an impossible amount of time and we want to make sure they are getting enough water.  Thanks so much!

Homework Starts This Week

We had a great first week and love our amazing class!  Besides homework, we are also looking forward to starting STEM this week with Ms. Cookie and Ms. Carrie, library with Mrs. Anderson and going to the keyboarding/CODE lab with Mrs. Fischer.

Please look for your child’s math homework in their blue take-home-folder on Monday, help them work steadily on it throughout the week, and is due on Friday (please remember to sign it).

First Day Pick Up Information

A Small Group of Kids Walking to SchoolWe are so excited for our FIRST DAY of school Monday and hope you are too!!
Remember: The first week of school is EARLY OUT each day and end at 1:00.

To help ease the first day pick up jitters for parents and students, we wanted to let you know that we lead our class out the EAST doors.  Carpool students will go to the back of the building.  We will take all other students to the tree just in front of OUR classroom windows.

If you have instructed your child to meet you somewhere else (often with older siblings), they can then let either Ms. Smith or Mrs. Teichert know they will be going to that spot.  Otherwise, your child will be waiting at our designated spot and can go with you after your child lets us know you are there and we see you.

We will do this the first few days to help us all feel comfortable with pick up.
