Grinch Party

Every Christmas, the third grade hosts a Grinch party rewarding all the students who were able to earn hearts for being respectful, responsible, and kind. We will be doing Grinch activities this week and next week culminating in the Grinch Party. At the party we will watch the cartoon version of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” eat green popcorn, and make Grinch pills (sixlets). The party will be on Thursday December 18th.

Cool Whip Lids

COOL WHIP lids! We are in dire need of Cool Whip lids. We are starting our Parent Gifts this week and every child will need a cool whip lid. Please check with your friends, grandparents, aunts, uncles, anybody else who might have one so our projects will turn out. Thanks for helping us find these for this fun Christmas project.

Scholastic Book Orders

Parents, I sent home a Scholastic book order form with your students today. As always, there are some wonderful books at reasonable prices. I will keep the order open until Tuesday December 9. I will need to place the order that evening in order to ensure the books get here in time for Christmas. Please click on this link: https://clubs2.scholastic.com Our classroom code is NKFMG. Entering this code will connect you to my account, and any purchases you make help us add points to purchase books for room. I know the students are very excited about some of the books that are available from the book order so hopefully this will help out for Christmas ideas! If it is a gift, feel free to send me an email and I will be happy to keep the order at school until it is picked up by a parent. THANK YOU!

BOOK FAIR STILL OPEN ONLINE

Our book fair is now closed. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our fairs!  All our earnings from Scholastic go directly to our school libraries!
Remember, though the school fair is closed, our online book fair is still available until Dec 2.  We have a much larger selection online and books will ship to the school for free.  The link is http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/q1 for Q1 & http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/q2 for Q2.

WEEKLY READING

Parents,

I have noticed that our nightly reading that our class is doing is extremely low. I’m not sure if I am just not getting the reading logs turned in or if the students aren’t reading. PLEASE make sure your child is reading at least 20 minutes per night at least 5 days a week. This is more important than anything. Please either turn in the reading log or log online (which I personally feel is much easier and saves trees). If students are not enjoying their reading time at home, please have them come talk to me. I can help them find a book that they would be interested in. Also, they LOVE Razkids in class and it is a great resource for reading as well.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP IN THIS!
