Last year, I did a graphing activity using Star Wars graham crackers. I want to do this activity again next week. Please email me if you DO NOT want your child to eat the graham crackers after we are done with the activity.
Here is a list of the students and what part they have in our class play. They will need their costume finished before Thursday, May 11 as this is our dress rehearsal. You can find ideas for costumes by searching “Munchkin Mania: Conflict Resolution In Oz”. Don’t feel like the costume has to be extravagant; a simple home made costume is sufficient. Thanks for your support in this. The kids are always very excited about it and it is a great way to finish off a wonderful school year. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Thanks!!
If you have already e-mailed me, you don’t have to worry about filling this form out. Otherwise, please fill it out so I can plan accordingly. Thanks!!
Our class will be participating in the Gala on April 24. Please let me know if your child cannot attend. We will be singing a song from our play that night.
April 10 Library (Please remember your books) Dress Down Day for Pictures April 13 STEM Special Dollar Dress Down Day to help the Quest Family who lost their house in a fire over the break
April 14 Field Trip to the Planetarium
FIELD TRIP Remember, the field trip this week is to the Planetarium in Salt Lake. We will meet at the Sandridge Frontrunner station in Roy at 8:15. We will return to the station at 2:45 so please remember to pick up your student before you pick up any siblings at Quest. Your child will not need ANY money for this field trip and we have asked our volunteer adults to not purchase anything at the planetarium. The food court is undergoing a renovation, so please do not plan to purchase your lunch there.
Opinion Writing We are practicing opinion writing in preparation for our upcoming end of year testing. Please ask your student to present their opinion to you on anything you can think of. They need to give you a hook, with their reasons and evidence for each reason.
Donations We are in need of glue sticks and dry erase markers!
HOMEWORK
Reading There are nightly homework assignments up in Google Classroom. Don’t forget that you need to read for 20 minutes every night. That is the most important part of the homework! Monday & Tuesday: Write a one paragraph summary about the book you are reading. Wednesday: Tell me what you think the author’s purpose is in writing the book Thursday: Tell me something funny about your book
Math Prodigy is set to review everything that we have taught this year. If you spend 15 minutes every night doing the problems, you will have all concept reviewed by the end of the month.
Spelling This week, we are studying the ee and ea pattern and reviewing the ai and ay pattern. The spelling test will be on Thursday due to the field trip on Friday.
Tomorrow is $1 dress down day and early out. As a third grade, we have been skyping with a nonprofit organization called SANCCOB. They are located in South Africa and help in conservation efforts with coastal birds. The third graders decided they really want to adopt a penguin! Feel free to send in an extra quarter tomorrow with their dress down dollar to help us out with this effort. The third graders figured out that if everyone brings in at least a quarter, we would have more than enough to have and name our very own penguin!!
I apologize, I copied the wrong link for the field trip permission slip. I sent home a copy of the correct permission slip with your student today. Please have your money paid and slip turned in by Friday. I will pay class money to all who bring it back to me tomorrow.
