DYAD READING

Ask your kids about DYAD READING-It is when two individuals reading at the same time. We do this in our classroom everyday. I would love it if you tried it at home. Utah State Board of Education-One of the most pressing challenges schools face is that of ensuring that all children become competent readers. Young children who experience problems in reading quickly fall behind their more skilled classmates. This gap in reading skills can emerge as early as first grade, and proves to be pervasive over time. The long-term negative impact of poor reading skills can be enormous.

  1. Read aloud with your child. Find a comfortable spot where the two of you can read together every day for about 30 minutes. …
  2. Encourage all reading. Comic books and magazines can provide a good reading experience. …
  3. Keep a dictionary handy. …

  7. Set a good example.
