Dear Mrs. Schneider, (greeting)(summary of the part of the book you have read this week–does not have to be the whole book!!)
We are reading, The Table Where Rich People Sit, by Byrd Baylor. In this book, we read about a family who thinks they are rich, even though they don’t have much money. Mountain Girl calls a family meeting to discuss how much money they have. She thinks they are poor and her parents should get better jobs. Her parents don’t agree. They start making a list of all the things they enjoy, and how much they think those things are worth. After adding up all the things they like, they find out they are very rich.
(Your thoughts about what you wrote in the first paragraph—not the whole book!—use your deeper level thinking!)
I think that this book is trying to show that family and things that you like to be around are better than money. When Mountain Girl says they are poor, she doesn’t realize how much they are really worth and how much they have. This book really made me think about how much my family is worth to me. I’m rich, because I have a family that cares about me, and my chubby little baby is worth at least a million dollars!
Sincerely, (closing)
