Homework

Better Late Than Never…

by on Apr.16, 2014, under Homework

It only took me 9 years of teaching and until almost the end of the year to figure this out…but I have come up with a new way to do Absent Work.  If you/your student misses a day, go to the tab that says, “Absent Work” at the top of the blog.  I will post a sheet with everything we did for the day as well as the worksheets.  🙂  I will leave absent work up for the week, then replace it with the next week’s work.

As always, please try to make sure that the missing work is turned in within a week.

This week…

by on Apr.14, 2014, under Homework

This week we are really gearing up for our Sage tests.  Next week is our writing test!  Since we are getting into the testing mode (and this is where the year REALLY flies by…) I am taking part of this week to reassess students on Words Their Way.  I’d like to see how far we have come this year.  With that, there is no Words Their Way homework this week.  Students still need to do their Reader Response Journal and read for 20 minutes.

There will be a permission slip sent home tomorrow for gum chewing during the Sage test.  If the signed paper does not come back, students won’t be able to chew gum.  It has to be written permission.

Have a great night!

Homework

by on Apr.08, 2014, under Homework

Students have their Words Their Way lists and their homework assignment for tonight.  If you look at the Words Their Way tab, it will have all the lists of words for each group.  The homework for the week is posted under the homework tab.  It’s a little off this week, since we had to push things back a day.  The homework will do the same, just push each one back a day.  🙂

This Week…

by on Mar.24, 2014, under Homework

I can’t believe that I’m saying this, but this is our last week of school before Spring Break!  We started the fourth term today!!  Yikes–where did this year go?!!

Friday is a dollar dress down day–don’t forget to bring your dollars on Friday, they will be collecting the money first thing in the morning.

Homework this week is posted under the Homework Tab.  The Words Their Way words are also posted under the Words Their Way tab, in case any students forgot their list at school. 🙂

Reader Response Journals are due by Friday night…and don’t forget to read for 20 minutes!!  Reading Group assignments need to be finished so we can discuss our books in groups this week!!

Just in case, here are the assignments for Words Their Way tonight…

Red Group–We are creating our own word sorts using aw, au, al, ow, ou, oy, and oi.  Students need to fill in each category with three words.

Yellow-Write three words that fit into each of the categories–they need to be new words–not from the list. (Word Hunt works great for this!!)

Green-Make a list of 5 Agent words and 5 Comparative Adjectives

Top Blue-Finish filling out the paper, by underlining the prefix and writing the number meaning of the prefix

Purple: Write 2 words from each category and their meanings

Bottom Blue: Finish filling out the paper–putting whether or not the word is an adjective or a noun…pay attention to the meaning of the words to help you.

Homework 12/10/13

by on Dec.10, 2013, under Homework

Today in class we learned about Idioms!  Idioms are phrases that if you take literally, they do not have the same meaning as they mean.  For example:  It’s raining cats and dogs!

Students need to write 5 idioms and turn in the paper tomorrow.

Also, some students did not get done with their multiplication worksheets from today.  They should have taken them home with them.  They need to be done for tomorrow.

And of course, don’t forget the Reader Response Journals and reading for 20 minutes!  🙂

Have a great night!  Stay warm!
