Author, Brandon Mull,  (He wrote the Fablehaven series and The Candy Shop Wars, and The Beyonders) is going to be signing copies of his newest release, Wild Born, the first book in the Spirit Animals series on Thursday, September 12th at 6:00 PM–at the Layton Barnes and Noble!

Hey everyone!!  I got the Calendar to work!!  I have updated it with the dates that everyone is presenting their Multiplication Projects, and more!!  I’m still adding things…and will continue to add things, so please check our calendar often!  I don’t think that you get an email sent to you when I update one of the tabs at the top, so you’ll just have to check it.  Also, I have uploaded a math page that I want the students to do as homework tonight.  I’m trying this out to see if it works.  If you run into problems, please let me know!!  

Here we are, heading into September already!!  I’m working on getting a classroom calendar up and running on the blog so that you’ll be able to see upcoming events and deadlines…however, as of right now, when I add something to my calendar, it won’t show up on my blog!  grrr…so hang in there, and I’ll let you know when it’s up and running!

For now, here is a run down of what is happening this month:

2nd-no school
6th-internet safety assembly 9:00
9th-multiplication projects due (info will be going home on Tuesday for this)
27th-Early Out/Dollar Dress Down Day

We will also be starting our Reader Response Journals.  I will go over in class how they need to be written.  Students will be submitting their letters to me through Dropbox (more info to come!).  To make sure that we are being exposed to a variety of genres and not just reading the same books over and over, I will be assigning a genre every month.  Students can pick any books within that genre-as long as they also meet the page requirements–I do this because I don’t want a fourth grader reading a 5 page book!  🙂  

That’s all I can think of at the moment that is upcoming…I’m sure I’ll be adding more as we go!  😉

I know I’ve said this before, but I absolutely LOVE this group of students and feel so lucky to get to hang out with them everyday!

This Friday (the 30th) is our first Early Out day of the year!  Please remember to pick students up at 1:00.  It is also a Dress Down Day.  Bring in a can of food and wear non-uniform (but still school appropriate) clothes!  🙂  

Also, in case you weren’t sure (hahaha!) there is NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY!!

WOW!!  That’s really all I can say…I am SO VERY LUCKY to be able to have this group of students!  

I can not even tell you how happy, lucky, and excited I am for this year!!  

Parents, thank you for having amazing kiddos and being amazing with them!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who came to Back to School Night!!  Wow, we had a great turnout for our class.  I can’t wait to jump into this year (I’m not even kidding!!) after meeting everyone!  I think we are going to have an AMAZING year!!!  If you didn’t get to come, or didn’t bring your supplies, don’t stress–just bring them on Monday.  🙂

Here we go!!!  It’s time to start thinking about counting down the days until school starts!  What??  I’m the only one counting down the days??  I am so excited for this school year!  We are going to have a fantastic year full of new adventures, learning, and creativity!
