Week of November 26, 2018

Welcome back!! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break.  We only have 3 weeks until Winter Break: December 17-January 1st. These next 15 days of school can be some of the hardest days to stay focused, but I know we can do it!!

Important Dates and Announcements:
Tuesday – Library 11:00 *Books Due
  • Reading Logs: Friday is the last day of the Month! Feel free to turn in reading logs Friday or next Monday for FULL credit. I will send home a new log on Monday the 3rd.
  • Coming up: We will be having a Grinch Party on Friday, Dec. 14.  We will also do a White Elephant gift exchange on this day.  More details will be posted as the day gets closer.
Math in Class
This week we will be working on addition and subtraction up to 1000 using place value.  We will test on Friday.

Language Arts in Class
We will be reading a story called, “A Mountain of History” and be discussing different landmarks and monuments that tell about our country’s history.  We will be looking for the main idea using key details.

Homework:
Please read 20 minutes every night and keep track of your minutes on our reading log.  Make sure that your child is doing REFLEX for math and getting the green light AT LEAST 3 times during the week. As soon as your child masters their addition and subtraction facts they will be able to start on multiplication! If students do not complete RELEX at home they will complete it during recess time.

**Weather: The weather is getting colder and we are bound to have some snowy days ahead.  Please make sure that your child comes to school prepared for the weather of the day.  Snow boots, coats, rain jackets, gloves, and hats are helpful to have on hand during this time of year.
