I am so impressed with the way our class has grown up! As I read the Inauguration Reflections, I was very impressed with the things our class members noticed and the grown up things you all had to say. I really loved what one student said, and can’t resist sharing:
The Inauguration
Today Mr. Trump became president. I personally think he will be a good president for the U.S. I also hope he will make America great again. In the inauguration he said he will make our country great again. “I will help make you and your country safe again” Said Donald Trump. I think that Donald will take care of our country. If he does.. I hope he will win next election in 4 years. He probably will make a better country. At first, I thought he was a horrible person, but now I think he is nicer for some reason.
To see your child’s reflection on the Inauguration and about the book Wonder, please connect with us on Seesaw (A new sign up sheet is coming home today). If you are already connected, you should be able to see what your child took from these two experiences.
HOMEWORK CHANGES!!!!!
With us being at half year, we are going to change homework just a little bit, and focus more on the literary skills we have learned in class. Please read so you understand what your child is doing.
READING
Reading and applying the literary skills we learn in class in imperative in becoming better readers. With this in mind, I still require every child to read 20 minutes every night. After reading, please have your child respond to the questions on the document in google classroom. Remember to fill out the library Google Doc (You’ve been amazing at this!) and record how many minutes you read for the week. I will also be asking for volunteers 3 times a week to give a book talk on what they’ve been reading. I will introduce both of these changes in class on Monday.
SPELLING
You will not be typing in sorts for homework. I will post the pattern we are working on and give examples of the pattern. You can practice at home, but we will do a lot of practice with the words in class, during centers.
This week: Lesson 12
I can use the rule to drop the final –e when adding a suffix that begins with a vowel. Examples:
taste, tasted, tasting, tasty
place, placed, placing
Math
15 minutes of Prodigygame.com Remember to go into the battles for the majority of the time you are in.
If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail or call. I usually don’t answer the phone during class, but will return your call after school.
