Ms. Applonie's 3rd Grade Class

Believe it or not but parent teacher conferences are quickly approaching! They will be on November 3rd and 4th.

Please note the following for the week of parent teacher conferences:

• Wednesday the 3rd will be a SHORT DAY
• Thursday the 4th there will be NO SCHOOL for half day kinder, the rest of Q1 and Q2 will still have school that day
• The following Friday( November 5th) there will be NO SCHOOL for all Quest students

We do not have school for half day kinder on that Thursday because we have twice as many families to meet with than the other grades.

We will be offering an in person option as well as a Zoom option. I would like to meet with as many people in person as possible. If you feel more comfortable or it does not work with your schedule I will be more than happy to accommodate with a Zoom conference. When the time gets closer I will just have you let me know if you would like a Zoom call.

Please send your child with a FULL water bottle EVERY DAY. We do not have easy access to a water fountain in the portable. I provide a water bottle to your children when they forget one, but my water bottle supply is quickly disappearing.

The only drink inside the classroom is WATER. NO juice, NO soda, NO tea, etc.

As the weather is getting cooler, remember to dress your children appropriately and send them with a jacket when needed.

Make sure your child is getting plenty of sleep. I am noticing more and more sleepy kiddos.

Dress code reminders:

• NO light up shoes.
• Socks must be red, white, or navy.
• All shirts must be tucked(spirit shirts worn on Fridays do not have to be tucked). Please help your child learn to tuck their own shirt and have their shirts tucked in BEFORE they come to school.

Important Dates to note:

• Wednesday, October 6th: Picture Retakes
• Wednesday-Friday, October 13-15: NO SCHOOL – Fall Break
• Friday, October 29th: Halloween Party

We are now beginning Unit 2 in Language Arts. Below are the power words, oral vocabulary words, letters, and sounds we will be mastering during the next 3 weeks. We will continue working on syllables, rhyming, identifying the beginning and ending sounds of words, and writing our name.

In math we are writing our numbers 0-10, learning to add one more, and comparing greater than and less than with numbers and objects.

And in science we are continuing to explore weather patterns and how to prepare for different weather events.

This year our school wide theme is “Be the One.” There are lots of different ways that each of us can be the one. We all have many “ones” in our lives. Dr. Dave and Ms. Angelee put together this video about the theme and some amazing students shared how they can be the one.

Today we had the kickoff of this year’s school fundraiser, it will go until the September. For the fundraiser we are selling cookie dough and beef jerky. Your child was sent home with a fundraiser pack today. There are lots of different prizes that the kids can earn depending on how much they sell.

All the information is in the pack that was sent home but our amazing administration made videos explaining how to use the scoreboard app to log orders and about the incentives. Click here to watch the on how to use the app.

The video that has all the information about prize incentives can be found on Quest Academy’s Facebook page. This year the grand prize, for the student who sells the most, will be an electric scooter! There are lots of other fun prizes so check it out!
