Aquarium Field Trip

On December 5th we will be going on a field trip to the aquarium in Draper!

Week of November 4th

IMPORTANT DATES:

  • November 15 – Charitable Dress Down (Not included in prepaid Dress Down Days)

  • November 25-29 – Thanksgiving Break – NO SCHOOL

MATH – We are moving on to lesson 10 and it is our very first division lesson!!  Please make sure that you continue practicing the multiplication facts with your child at home.

ELA: This week we will be working on Unit 2 Week 5 in our Wonders program. Below is an outline of what we are learning in class. Our emphasis will be on comprehending figurative language to understand poetry. We will also be working on our unit 2 assessment! We will take most of it together and part of it independently and use it as a chance to learn some testing strategies as well as review all we have learned.

Week of October 28th

This week is going to be a busy one! We have Halloween and Red Ribbon Week. See flyer for details on ways we are going to embrace saying no to drugs!

HALLOWEEN

We have a lot of fun planned for Halloween on Thursday! We will be having our annual Halloween Parade starting at 9:00am. For those who would like to watch the parade, please plan on bringing camping chairs or blankets to sit along the outside of either Q1 or Q2.

Please remember and follow our school’s costume guidelines:

  • Costumes should be modest and without blood and gore
  • Face paint and masks are allowed, however masks will only be worn when directed by the teacher
  • Weapons or anything that depicts violence is not allowed

ELA: This week we will be working on Unit 2 Week 4 in our Wonders program. Below is an outline of what we are learning in class. Our emphasis will be on making predictions and identifying theme.

Week of October 21st

I hope that everyone enjoyed their fall break! I know that I did. I also want to thank all of you that were able to attend parent teacher conferences! I loved getting to meet with you. I really am so lucky to be your children’s teacher. You have some wonderful kids!

CLASS REWARD

Your wonderful students have earned a class reward! They have decided that they would like to watch a movie in class and bring something from home. They can choose to bring a blanket, pillow, and/or a stuffed animal. However, I do request that whatever they bring fits reasonably inside their backpacks. This will be on Friday, October 25th. Please make sure your kids only bring things that are not going to cause a problem at school.

Week of October 14th

UTAH RISE TRAINING TEST

This week during our ELA block we are going to be starting the Utah RISE Training Test. We do this as a whole class to learn how to use the RISE testing system in order to be successful during the practice tests. Making sure we are ready to review and prepare for end of year testing later on. If you have any questions about the training and/or practice tests please let me know!

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES

Every student is scheduled for a conference! I am so excited to meet with each of you to discuss your student’s growth and goals. For each appointment I have allotted 20 minutes. If it turns out that that we need more time, I will ask you to schedule additional time on another day to meet and continue our conversation. During each conference I will have the door closed. When you arrive for your appointment please knock on the door to let me know you are there.

If you would like to give your child extra practice with multiplication, this activity would be an excellent option to use.

ELA: This week we will be working on Week 5 in our Wonders program. Below is an outline of what we are learning in class. Our emphasis will be on asking and answering questions to identify the central idea and key details of a text. We will also be taking unit 1 test!! Since this is our first unit test of the year we will take it together and use it as a chance to learn some test taking strategies as well as review all we have learned so far.
