Week of December 9th

Our field trip to the aquarium was a roaring success! Thank you to all the wonderful chaperones that made the day possible!! If you were a chaperone and took any pictures of your group please email them to me. Thank you!

  • December 20th – FREE Dress Down (We encourage students to wear ugly Christmas sweaters)
  • December 23rd-January 3rd – Winter Break – NO SCHOOL

GRINCH PARTY:

This week students will start earning their way into the Grinch Party. They will work to earn 3 hearts that represent RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, & KINDNESS. We will be holding our Grinch party on Friday, Dec. 20th. We will need help from 8:25 – 10:30. If you can volunteer to help the entire time, please sign up to help! You won’t have to plan anything, just be ready to be assigned a job and get to work!

MATH – This week we are continuing learning about area. If your student does not have ALL OF THEIR MULTIPLICATION FACTS MEMORIZED it is going to be much more challenging for them to be successful. Please make sure you practice multiplication facts with your students for at least 5 minutes every day!

ELA: This week we will be working on Unit 3 Week 4 in our Wonders program. Below is an outline of what we are learning in class. Our emphasis will be on describing characters and how their actions contribute to the sequence of events.

Week of December 2nd

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break!  As I have thought about the things I am thankful for, my amazing students were always at the top of my thankful list.  Thank you for the amazing school year so far!!

Aquarium Field Trip This Week!

  • Make sure your child is at school on time (once the buses arrive we will NOT be able to wait for late students)
  • Make sure your child is dressed for the weather (we will be eating lunch outside)
  • All students need to be in their normal uniform attire
  • Make sure your child has a backpack (they will be carrying their own lunch, coat, etc.)
  • If you stated your student is going to have home lunch make sure it is in their backpack
  • If you selected school lunch for you child, it has been ordered and will be given to them the morning of the field trip
  • Do NOT send your child with any money (they will not be allowed to purchase anything)
  • If you have not already, please pay the $5 student donation for the field trip (paid to the office)

MATH: This week we will start area! This is a fun skill that students continue to use their multiplication facts for.  Please make sure that you are practicing the multiplication facts with your child at home. In class students will be showing what they know by passing off timed tests.

Week of November 18th

One week until Thanksgiving Break, but who’s counting! 🙂 We have a week that is cram packed full of learning, so please make sure that your child is here everyday.

FIELD TRIP:

If you have not filled out the permission form for the field trip please do so now! If you have signed up to chaperone, we are planning on you coming with us and driving yourself there. Please also note that if you signed up to chaperone then you need to have the chaperone fee of $10 paid to the office by Friday, November 22nd. If you have any questions please let me know!

Aquarium Field Trip

On December 5th we will be going on a field trip to the aquarium in Draper!

Week of November 4th

MATH – We are moving on to lesson 10 and it is our very first division lesson!!  Please make sure that you continue practicing the multiplication facts with your child at home.

ELA: This week we will be working on Unit 2 Week 5 in our Wonders program. Below is an outline of what we are learning in class. Our emphasis will be on comprehending figurative language to understand poetry. We will also be working on our unit 2 assessment! We will take most of it together and part of it independently and use it as a chance to learn some testing strategies as well as review all we have learned.

Week of October 28th

This week is going to be a busy one! We have Halloween and Red Ribbon Week. See flyer for details on ways we are going to embrace saying no to drugs!

HALLOWEEN

We have a lot of fun planned for Halloween on Thursday! We will be having our annual Halloween Parade starting at 9:00am. For those who would like to watch the parade, please plan on bringing camping chairs or blankets to sit along the outside of either Q1 or Q2.

Please remember and follow our school’s costume guidelines:

  • Costumes should be modest and without blood and gore
  • Face paint and masks are allowed, however masks will only be worn when directed by the teacher
  • Weapons or anything that depicts violence is not allowed

MATH: This week we will move to lesson 9. We will use order, grouping, and place value to make multiplication expressions easier to solve. Please make sure that you are practicing the multiplication facts with your child at home.

ELA: This week we will be working on Unit 2 Week 4 in our Wonders program. Below is an outline of what we are learning in class. Our emphasis will be on making predictions and identifying theme.
