Please use the “Daily Low Temperature” as a guideline when dressing your child for school!

Hello, Fabulous Parents!

We have had some bitter cold temperatures right before school and during morning recesses lately, and I am a little concerned about some of the cold kiddos I have seen!  Most kids are appropriately dressed, but some kids have very little outerwear and have even expressed to me how cold they are!

Here are a few things to bear in mind when deciding on outerwear for school:
  • It is often well below the daily high temperature when the children are waiting outside for school to start and during morning recess.  Please do not use the daily Freezinghigh temperature as a guideline for choosing outerwear!  Try to imagine yourself standing outside in line for 5-10 minutes in the early morning frost and imagine what you’d like to be wearing!
  • We only stay inside for recess (and before school) when the temperature is below 20 degrees.  So, that means that your child will often be out in below-freezing temperatures! Please dress accordingly.  The students’ cubbies are plenty big enough to house all manner of outwear, including hats, gloves, scarves, boots, etc.
I absolutely adore your children and I want them to enjoy their recesses as much as possible!  We did have an anonymous parent donate some hats and mittens for any children whose families may be experiencing financial strain; I am unsure of who may have a need, so please let me know by e-mail if you have a need for a hat or mittens.  Thank you so much!
