We have had some bitter cold temperatures right before school and during morning recesses lately, and I am a little concerned about some of the cold kiddos I have seen! Most kids are appropriately dressed, but some kids have very little outerwear and have even expressed to me how cold they are!
Here are a few things to bear in mind when deciding on outerwear for school:
- It is often well below the daily high temperature when the children are waiting outside for school to start and during morning recess. Please do not use the daily high temperature as a guideline for choosing outerwear! Try to imagine yourself standing outside in line for 5-10 minutes in the early morning frost and imagine what you’d like to be wearing!
- We only stay inside for recess (and before school) when the temperature is below 20 degrees. So, that means that your child will often be out in below-freezing temperatures! Please dress accordingly. The students’ cubbies are plenty big enough to house all manner of outwear, including hats, gloves, scarves, boots, etc.
