You need two books for our class. One book is for the classroom, the other one is for your homework.
Tomorrow all students should have a chapter book to read in class. This book will stay in the classroom. This can be any type of book, fiction or non-fiction. I have them pull out their books when they get done with work earlier than other classmates. They will read them in short sittings (5-7 min). They will not be writing any reports about this book. This is purely to keep them busy until we move to our next task. So the book can be comics if they would like, but I would prefer something more enlightening if possible. We do have a small classroom library they can take from as well. Our Quest library day will be Mondays at 11:00 and will begin Sept. 11. Also, they can visit the Weber County Library. If they have their own library card and bring it into class and show me, I will give them a Rams Reward (classroom money).
They will need another book at home to read for homework (20 min reads). This book is going to be used for their book reports. More about this book report will be posted in their homework.
One of students went to watch the Eclipse in Idaho. She shared with us several pictures. Here are some of them. Ask your student to tell you more about these pictures and her presentation.

LASTLY, we are writing a “friendly letter”. The student needs to bring their own mailing address and a mailing address of someone they plan to mail the letter to.
TEACHERS WHO LOVE TEACHING, TEACH CHILDREN WHO LOVE LEARNING –Robert John Meeham
This is one of my FAVORITE quotes.
I know that what we learn becomes a part of who we are...I am excited to be part of your learning and success!Bookmarks
