Tuesday, December 17th Making signs for the Rendezvous in class. Bring markers if you can.

Always have your kiddo read for 20 mins. I love them to play/practice multiplication facts!!!
MONDAY, DECEMBER 16th all Rendezvous items are due. We will be making signs in class that day. I will provide all the materials for the sign making. You are in-charge of their project. Our rendezvous activity will be December 19th 2:15-3:00, Q1 gym. All parents/grandparents/etc. are welcome to attend. I will give you some pelts to buy from the kids while you visit. 
December 20-Our class Christmas party is coming soon and parents often ask if their children can bring candy to share for the party. According to our wellness policy, students are not allowed to bring treats to share. If you would like to bring a gift to handout, it cannot be any type of food.

Our Christmas party will be the last day of school before Winter break, December 20. We will be rotating with the other 4th grade teachers. Our rotations will begin at 10:20-11:40. Student will stay in our room for 20 mins and move to the other rooms every 20 mins. Our room will be playing a Holiday/Winter Kahoot. Parent volunteer are not needed for this activity but you are always welcome to visit. You can move through the rotations with your kiddo for fun.

REMEMBER it is early out at 1:00 and we don’t come back until January 6th. Friday, December 20 is a FREE dress down day. Merry Christmas and Have a wonderful New Year celebration!!!

We will be having our annual 4th grade Rendezvous (a.k.a. the Economics Fair) the last week before Christmas Break on Thursday, December 19th at 2:15 PM. I will let you know as soon as we have the gym scheduled. It will be held in the Q1 Gym. This is a fun activity for all who come! ALL are welcome including smaller siblings. Guests will receive complementary “pelts” at the door to spend too. 

To be ready for this event, students will need to make 24 products or plan a service to “sell” during the rendezvous (please keep the expense very low. I recommend making each item well under the value of $1. Be creative and use things you already have. Nature if filled with free supplies.) Some examples are (but not limited to):Use your imagination. We have had in the past: flower pens, play dough, slime, hand warmers, jewelry, and other simple crafts. You pick what you would like to bring BUT no food items will be allowed. The kids will be learning about economics this month. But as their parent, talk to them about why it is a good sales strategy to make something that no one else has. That way, you can charge more for the product because you won’t have any competition. HIGH DEMAND=MORE SALES/PROFIT   Your overall profit will reward you with bragging rights. We don’t use any “real” money.

From now until the rendezvous, students will have the opportunity to earn “animal pelts.” This is our form of money/currency given out by 4th Grade Teachers to be used to buy things at the rendezvous from other students. You will turn in your paper pelts afterwards. Whatever you choose to make should be homemade. Students should use materials that can be found around the house to make their product. Any cost involved in purchasing materials should be minimal. Students will need to make 24 items to sell.  Please let the students make this product/service with minimal help from grown ups.  Rendezvous items are due Monday, December 16. This will assure that students are ready to sell that week. It will also give time for teachers to help students price their product and make a poster in class. AGAIN, the product posters are being made in class.

As a reminder, we use the following Mastery Grading criteria determined by student performance on various assessments.  When students demonstrate their proficiency on a standard, they are given a “3″ and this is considered a good grade.
