TEACHERS WHO LOVE TEACHING, TEACH CHILDREN WHO LOVE LEARNING –Robert John Meeham
This is one of my FAVORITE quotes.
I know that what we learn becomes a part of who we are...I am excited to be part of your learning and success!Bookmarks

FIELD TRIP DONATIONS:
We are planning a few upcoming field trips. We would like to pay for them in advance. The forth grade team is asking for each child to donate $7 towards these expenses. We have two field trips planned. #1 Ogden Nature Center will be visiting our school during regular school hours (not scheduled yet, no chaperones needed). #2 The Museum of Ancient History-fossils (Thanksgiving Point May 2, unlimited chaperones as long as you pay your own way *we will be using the Frontrunner to get there and back*). You may pay these fees at the Front Office. Have the students turn their receipts into me afterwards. Parent chaperone fees will be paid at a later date. Thanks
BOOKREPORTS 3RD QTR-date change
February 22 and 23 Book Reports presentations in classroom. ***Remember all book report forms can be found at the top of this BLOG under Book Reports Page. The books can be from any library (the Quest Library has several books available. You can read and get information from more then one book).

February 5-9 Homework
Read for 20 minutes each night.
IXL science has been added to our IXL accounts. I would like them to practice SCIENCE each night for 10 min. Practice any from the section listed below: Each of them were given their accounts today. Their users names are (all in undercase) first name last name 201. FOR EXAMPLE: my user name is: angieclark201 My password: rams.
The passwords are all the same: rams
***THESE ACCOUNTS ARE DIFFERENT THEN THE USER NAME AND PASSWORDS GIVEN FOR IXL ELA***
MATH homework sheets are being sent home with a few kids who haven’t mastered the Number Line yet. There are 11 kids who need more practice with this. This packet needs to be completed and brought back Thursday. There are lots of videos on my blog to help them learn this Standard. THEY ARE: 4.NF.6 & 4.NF.7 under the Number Fraction page. If your child was not given a packet, they could watch a video under this standard for review BUT it isn’t required.
Additionally, any unfinished FrontRowED assignments. There are a few kids who still have outstanding work.
Lastly, they need to watch one Math video each night. The two standards we are learning are: 4.MD.1 & 4.MD.2 These are found on my BLOG under Measurement and Data Page. Have them watch one video each night. This will help them understand the Metric unit.
No READWORKS this week.
Valentine’s card OPTION:
Today in their backpacks I sent home some Valentine’s Day picture/fliers from Bell Photography. If you would like to order them, see the flier inside the envelope. If you aren’t interested in them, please send them back to school this week.
If you are planning on writing each child’s name on each card, here is our class roaster:
Evan
Michael
Emilee
Kelcey
Bechham
Hailee
Jace
Paige
London
Kenzley
Guramanat
Jackson
Jack
Aiden
Damian
Noah
Jayden
Samantha
Jazmin
Summer
Braxtyn
Adelaide
Bridger
Calvin
Brecklyn
Evalynn
You don’t have to individually write names on each of the cards. It is optional. You can just sign their name and leave the “TO:” blank. Reminder: Our school has a no treat policy. All Valentine’s gifts/cards need to be candy/food free. Also, decorated bags/boxes are optional. You may make these at home and bring them or bring a simply bag to put cards into. I will have plain bags for kids who forget to bring one. Note: if you are planning on bring gifts/card etc, please bring enough for the whole class. We have 26 kids.

MOVIE NIGHT! Our Classes iMovies

Our class worked really hard learning iMovie and making them! Here is the link to our iMovie drive. Pop some popcorn and take a seat. They are all so fun to watch. ENJOY!
iMovie Video Link
They added the pics, organized them, set them to music, changed transitions, then shared them in Google Classroom. Next, they worked together at getting them off the Mac Lab computers-this took skills. I am constantly blown away by this kids!
We have also been learning how to compose music in the program GARAGE BAND. We got to rocked out to some COOL tunes! You have some talented kiddos! I can’t share these files because I would need to get all of your kids iTunes accounts 🙁 You can stop in and hear them in our Mac lab anytime though!!!
Next we are onto created Bloxels games. #TechSavvy 😉

Service Project-Valentine’s Cards

We have the opportunity to provide service in our community. The 4th grade students at Quest Academy are going to make Valentine’s Card for Lotus Assisted Living Center. Lotus Park Assisted Living is a assisted living campus, specializing in care for senior adults in West Haven City. They are partnered with Quest. They have come to different activities throughout the years, including the Halloween Parade. We have enjoyed their visits and want to send them cards and Valentine poems. They are going to LOVE it! To do this, we need art donations. Our room needs pink/red/white construction paper/card stock/heart paper. Any paper would be wonderful! Any Valentine’s day embellishments would be fabulous. Don’t forget about glitters/stickers/etc. Even fancy scissors to cut cut shapes and such. Paper doilies are perfect for these too. The only thing we have so far is plenty of glue! Many thanks 😉 We plan to work on these on Friday.

Jan 22-Jan 26 Lots of NEW information/changes

IMPORTANT info in regards to Valentine’s Day, FEB 14TH. We have a change of plans. We are not having a big party (any longer). We are having some fun activities that will last from 1-1:30. I know I had asked for help and was planning a bigger event, BUT we are now having a smaller celebration and holding it with other 4th grade classes. Sorry, for any inconvenience.
Other Valentine’s information you need to know….Students can bring a Valentine’s Day card box/bag/holder to collect their Valentine’s cards in. They can make it any which way they would like. This is optional. IF YOU WOULD RATHER NOT make a V-day card holder-I will provide them with an large envelope to put them in. Valentine’s day cards need to be sugar/candy free. Also, they need to bring enough for every student in our class. We have 26 students.
BOOK REPORT CHANGES:
I ANNOUNCED THAT YOU SHOULD START READING YOUR BOOK FOR 3 QTR BOOK REPORT…..WELL, I want to change some guidelines. I want it to be non-fiction. I failed to realize that our Quest library doesn’t have a ton of non-fiction books that are appropriate for 4th graders. Mrs Anderson went to the Q2 library to hunt some down for us, but she came back with several war books, which I would rather not use. SO, our 3rd Qtr book reports will NOW be biography of U.S. Presidents. Which our school has several choices available. This will go great with what we have been learning about in ELA. Next Monday, Jan 29, we will go to the Q1 library and pick out some President books for you to read and report on. Also, these books only need to be between 90 and 120 pages. Homework:
Finish any assignments in your FrontRowED account. Don’t rush through them, just work at a comfortable pace. They are review assignments.
Get your user name and password setup for Bloxels. There are about 5 students that we are waiting on 😉
Read for 20 minutes. Any book you want this week. NEXT week we are going to the school library and checking out President library books. We will be using these President Biographies for our 3rd Book Report. After you finish your President Book Report book, you will need to get another to read each night.
Practice vocabulary words on Quizlet.
Some of you need to still learn your multiplication facts. Please, practice these. Use your REFLEX accounts to practice.
Do IXL for 10 minutes each night. Here is a list of the IXL sections to follow. REMEMBER you have to earn a 90% before you move on to the next category. All of the “A” column. Then, all “R”. Then, all “Q”. I just want you working on these for 10 minutes each night. If you get these all done, pick whichever sections you want to practice.
ReadWorks: You have two articles to read and answer questions.
#1Your Recycled House
#2 Field Trip
Please be sure that students are doing the google form on Thursday night, otherwise they don’t get credit for their homework!!
Don’t Forget that you all can log into Scholastic News! You can read and learn on their site.
Our class code is ClarkRams
