All week we are participating in Positive Me Week!  Check each day to see what they are encouraged to wear.

Besst Realty will be kicking off our canned food drive this week too.  This is a great opportunity to serve our community.  Please send any can donations throughout the week.  The kids attended an assembly today and learned some incentives for collecting cans.  

Homework is back to normal.  We are working in Unit #2, Week #3 of Wonders.  Please print out a study guide if you haven’t for this unit.  We have two Readworks assignments and frontrow practice.  Continue to practice multiplication cards as well.  We will be learning more about the water cycle and working on spelling words in the classroom.  Please bring in any 2-liter soda bottles you have.  I need the lids too.  

We are also beginning our 2nd Quarter of school.  Grades will be available for the first quarter on Friday.  Please remember that we have a “NEW” grading policy.  You can review this on the school’s website.  When reading your student’s score, please note that it is respective to a benchmark score.  You should not expect your student to reach “Mastery” of a subject in the first quarter.  Some children will receive a “4”  grade in a subject but most will be a “3”.  Note that their scores will continues to climb.  Be patient as you see their scores increase over the year.  We have parent/teacher conference coming up in November.  I can answer any of your concerns during this time.   You can also contact me in advance if you would like.  

I have had a few parents willing to help with the Halloween party.  I really need someone who is willing to plan the activities.  Let me know if you would be willing to plan an activity for the party.

I LOVE PARENT HELPERS!!!  We are having our Halloween party soon.  I am hoping for some parent volunteers to help. It is an easy way to earn your volunteer hours and have fun doing it.  Our party will be on October 31st from 10:00-12:00.  Please email me if you are willing to plan the activities or volunteer to help with the party.  THANKS SO MUCH!!!

We are planning some fun activities in the future and need a few things for each student.  For a science project, we need 2-liter bottles.  I need one for each student.  If you have any of these in the next little while, please send them to school washed out with the lids.  We also need empty PRINGLES chip tubes.  Again, wiped out and with a lid.  Lastly, we need tissue boxes.   We need the size that is “deeper/tall” and full size/rectangle shaped.

NO HOMEWORK THIS WEEK!!!!  WE ARE CATCHING UP ON ANY MISSING WORK AND PRESENTING BOOK REPORTS!!!!  I will let the kids know who has missing assignments, and they can work on them in the classroom.  We have a few assessments for the end of the quarter.  So, this week, get a good night sleep and a big breakfast.  Come with a positive attitude ready for success!!!  I am excited to hear and see your creative book reports!

This week we have had several running noses and kids that didn’t feel good.  Please, have them stay home for a few days if they aren’t feeling well.  It isn’t fun to be sick, and they aren’t productive when they are here.  I also excuse them from missing work if they have been sick.  Thanks
