Our class created luminaries for this event!!!!  Take time to go see them!  I have taken my family in the past, and we have had a great time.  We each got a hot cocoa and a cookie.  They have a kid-friendly walk through, a small haunted house, thriller dance performance, and a scary hayride.  It was all free.  It is at the Hooper rodeo grounds park.  Saturday, October 14, 5500 S.  7100 W. Our book reports are due!  We are starting to present them MONDAY.  If you would like to attend your child’s presentation, just let me know.  I am willing to work around your schedule.  If you want to come Friday, Oct. 13,  YOU CAN!  Just let me know.  I am inputing this score into this quarter’s grade book.  The quarter ends on Wednesday, October 18.  With that in mind, I really want them all presented by then.   If you would like to come watch the presentation, please try and do it on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday of next week.  Don’t forget, we will present one each quarter, so you have another opportunity to come again if you can’t make it to this one.

This Friday is an optional dollar dress down day to help one of our employees (Jen Jones) who is in need of a surgery to save her hand. As many of you know, Jen is our Coding Lab Specialist. She works with students on a daily basis to teach coding, application development, keyboarding, and so much more. Though this is an optional dress down, individuals are welcome to donate any amount for this cause.

It is getting colder in Utah.  Our class has a morning recess at 10:10 for 15 min.  Also, they have to lineup outside in the morning at 8:30.  Please send them with a coat/jacket.  By lunch, it has warmed up, and most of them don’t take coats outside for this break.   I wear mine for morning recess.  I want them to wear one too.  

We are working on Wonders Unit#2 Week 2 this week.  Please print that study guide out for reference to use through the week.  Also, we are going to do a painting project.  Please send an old shirt for them to wear as a smock (if they haven’t already brought one).  Have it at the school by Tuesday so we can get Art underway the next day.  

In math we are working on multiplication problems.  Last week we learned different ways to multiply a 4-digit number by a 1-digit number.  This week we are learning how to multiply a 4-digit number by a 2-digit number.  About half of our class is struggling with multiplication facts.  This is an important skill to have.  They need to memorize these (1X up to 12X).  Please get your child a deck of multiplication cards or an app to practice with.  If they have these learned, the rest of the year will be easier and fun.  Thanks in advance!

Book report presentations are due in one week.  I will post a presentation schedule at the end of the week.  If you have questions, let me know.  You can also request a day you would prefer to have them present.  

The end of the quarter is also next week.  Please, remind your student to complete all of their homework.  Even if it is late, it is better than not done at all.

FIRST, we have our ICE CREAM PARTY ON TUESDAY!!!! Please make sure you have your permission slip filled out. There are three students who don’t have theirs done yet. They know who they are 😉 We are starting Unit #2 in Wonders (English, Language, and Art). Please print out the Unit #2, Week #1 study guide to look at what we will be working on this week. There are two ReadWorks assignments and three FrontRowED assignments. Don’t forget to practice your vocabulary words on Quizlet. Remember: Spelling words are being taught in the classroom. We are also learning the water cycle and condensation this week. We have a special guest coming this week–a meteorologist!!! Keep working towards your book report preparation. We will be presenting them beginning on October 16-18. That only leaves you TWO WEEKS to finish up your books. Fall BREAK is coming soon!!! October 16-18 (short day Oct. 18, 1:30). October 18, is also the last day of the Quarter. Please, make sure all of your classwork is turned in and your homework is completed. Thanks The Second Quarter begins October 23.
